openai codex issues language Chinese

I can reproduce a similar issue on an Intel Mac.

Environment:
ProductName: macOS
ProductVersion: 14.8.5
BuildVersion: 23J423
x86_64
26.519.22136
3003

• Language selected: Simplified Chinese / Traditional Chinese

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Codex Desktop.
2. Go to Settings > General > Language.
3. Select Chinese or Traditional Chinese.
4. Quit the app completely with Cmd + Q.
5. Reopen Codex Desktop.
6. Open the app menu or right-click context menu.

Actual behavior:
The language setting appears to be saved, but the UI is still partially English.
For example, menu/context menu items such as Undo, Redo, Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Select All remain in English, while some macOS/system-provided items are shown in Chinese/Traditional Chinese.

Expected behavior:
After selecting Chinese or Traditional Chinese, the whole Codex Desktop UI and menus should be consistently localized.

Additional notes:
This is happening on Intel Mac x86_64, not Apple Silicon.
I also tried changing the macOS per-app language setting and restarting the app, but the issue still persists.

• macOS: 26.6 (Build 25G72), Apple Silicon (arm64)
• App version: 26.727.51351 (build 6119)
• Language selected in app: Simplified Chinese (简体中文)

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open the Codex desktop app.
2. Go to Settings → General → Language and select Simplified Chinese (简体中文).
3. Quit the app completely with Cmd+Q, then reopen it.
4. (Also tested) Set the macOS per-app language override via System Settings → General → Language & Region → Applications → ChatGPT → Simplified Chinese, and separately Traditional Chinese. No effect.

Actual behavior:

• The conversation content responds in Chinese, but large parts of the UI remain in English, including the left sidebar (threads/history list), Settings, and other buttons/menus.
• The macOS per-app language override (both Simplified and Traditional Chinese) has no effect on the app UI.
• The language setting appears to be saved, but the UI is only partially localized.

Expected behavior:

• After selecting Simplified Chinese, the entire Codex desktop app UI (sidebar, buttons, menus) should be consistently localized to Chinese.

Additional notes:

• This reproduces the same issue reported earlier in this thread, still present on the latest version 26.727.51351 as of 2026-08-04.
• Using Chinese in conversations works fine; the issue is purely UI localization completeness.
