Unable to rewind to last message before compaction #10662

Closed

Description

Description

I forgot to set the OPENCODE_DISABLE_AUTOCOMPACT=1 environment variable, and during a session OpenCode started to compact.

I managed to interrupt it, but now I'm unable to go back to before this compaction.

When I do /timeline, all I'm able to go back to is my last previous message.

Why isn't the auto-compaction also an entry in this?

OpenCode version

1.1.34

Steps to reproduce

  1. Have a session reach the 85% limit
  2. Once it autocompacts, interrupt it
  3. Try to restart Opencode with the proper env variable & --continue
  4. It'll still be in the "Compaction" message, unable to go back
