Plan mode in status line is cut off when window width is narrow

This is related to #570 which was worked around by moving content indicator to header, but the issue of the directory path taking up too much real estate remains and is causing the plan/build mode indicator to be cut off when window width is narrow

Can confirm this is still an issue :)
