MiniMax M2.5 (NVIDIA NIM): Reasoning content shown as ``` tags instead of "Thinking:" format #15543
When using the MiniMax M2.5 model through NVIDIA NIM provider, the reasoning content is displayed as raw markdown code blocks (```) instead of being formatted as "Thinking:" like other reasoning models (e.g., DeepSeek, Claude).
Expected Behavior
The reasoning content should be:
Displayed in a collapsible "Thinking:" section
Separated from the final response
Formatted consistently with other reasoning models
Current Behavior
The model outputs reasoning wrapped in tags that appear as plain text in the response, making it difficult to distinguish between reasoning and final answer.
Example output:
El usuario me ha saludado con "Hola". Debo responder de manera concisa y directa.
Hola. ¿En qué puedo ayudarte?
Steps to Reproduce
Configure NVIDIA NIM provider with MiniMax M2.5 model
Set reasoning options in opencode.json:
{
"provider": {
"nvidia": {
"models": {
"minimaxai/minimax-m2.5": {
"name": "MiniMax M2.5",
"options": {
"reasoningEffort": "high"
}
}
}
}
}
}
3. Send a query to the model4. Observe the reasoning content displayed as plain text with ``` tagsEnvironment- OpenCode version: 1.2.15- Provider: NVIDIA NIM- Model: minimaxai/minimax-m2.5- API Endpoint: https://integrate.api.nvidia.com/v1Possible Solutions1. Add support for MiniMax reasoning format in the NVIDIA NIM provider2. Parse ``` content blocks as reasoning_content when detected3. Add model-specific configuration to handle reasoning formatAdditional Context- Other models like DeepSeek V3.2 work correctly with reasoning- The issue appears specific to how MiniMax M2.5 formats reasoning output- NVIDIA NIM API returns reasoning in the message content field with markdown code blocks### Plugins_No response_### OpenCode version_No response_### Steps to reproduce_No response_### Screenshot and/or share link_No response_### Operating System_No response_### Terminal_No response_
