[FEATURE]: Preserve Model Selection Per Chat #17873

Closed as not planned
Closed as not planned

Description

@AmrTamer23

Feature hasn't been suggested before.

  • I have verified this feature I'm about to request hasn't been suggested before.

Describe the enhancement you want to request

When I open a chat and select for example Model X and then open another chat with Model Y, the model selected in the first chat becomes Model Y, I think preserving model selection per chat is super helpful for running multiple chats at the same time.

    I'm also experiencing this exact same issue on the latest release of OpenCode Desktop.

    Switching between sessions resets the manually selected model, forcing re-selection every time you return to a chat. It breaks workflow continuity quite a lot. Hoping we can get a resolution on this soon!

    I just realized OP, is describing a feature request form his perspective, from mine, this is a bug where the default behavior should be to have the originally selected model in the vendor modal persistent. Apologies for the confusion, there are a handful of similar open issues describing the same thing in different ways.

    @faileon

    Please I need this, I often work on multiple issues at the same time with different models. Models are currently "global" and not tied to a session, which is the wrong UX imho.
