When paste the path of an image into the TUI, since the model does not support images and cannot obtain the actual path of the image, I need to paste the image path as plain text.
However, a valid path is automatically parsed into the format [image1] instead of plain text, and an invalid path (such as a non-existent xxx.png) cannot be pasted into TUI.
Plugins
cc-safety-net, @tarquinen/opencode-dcp@latest
OpenCode version
1.3.5
Steps to reproduce
paste an existent image path.
paste a not existent or invalid image path (such as "xxx.png" or any text ends with ".png" or ".jpg")
This issue might be a duplicate of existing issues. Please check:
TUI: Can not paste certain string #11148: Describes the same bug where strings containing image file extensions (e.g. test.png) cannot be pasted into the TUI — the path is silently dropped or auto-converted instead of pasted as plain text.
Environment: Windows 11, opencode 1.18.18 (VS Code extension + Windows Terminal).
I use "Copy as path" then paste into the prompt, and it's immediately converted to [image 1] instead of the text path. My model doesn't support image input, so I have no way to reference the file path as text.
Please add an option to paste a file path as plain text.
+1 — Same here: pasting a plain-text file path (e.g. copied via ⌥⌘C in Finder) is force-converted to an attachment. When the model doesn't support that file type (e.g. PDF), the paste is rejected and the agent never sees the path at all. Please provide a way to paste paths as plain text (or skip auto-attach when the model can't ingest the type). Still reproducible on v1.18.21, macOS + Ghostty.
Thanks for the report! OpenCode 2.0 is now out and development is focused on V2, so we're closing issues filed against OpenCode 1. Please upgrade (opencode upgrade --major, details: https://anoma.ly/notes/opencode-2-0), and if this is still relevant on 2.0, reopen this issue or open a new one with your 2.0 version.

I agree. That’s a major issue, since I can't pass the image file path to a non-multimodal model.
