How to modify Plan and Build agents to pass chat_template_kwargs? #23995

Question
For example, in the Build agent, I'd like to try sending chat_template_kwargs with enable_thinking: false
Can that be configured in the agents section of opencode.json?
The "variant cycle" feature seemed useful for this purpose, but doesn't seem to be implemented for local models like Qwen 3.6

Has it been solved? I am on version 1.14.30 and I am not getting any response for V4 Pro.

I had to change my local "provider" to be named something like "openai-compatible" and then under models -> variants, I defined "think" and "no_think" variants" that have "chat_template_kwargs" as I needed.
However, even though this makes the local model able to use different variants, there is still question of how to make agent use particular local model variant.
It's already supported to configure a variant for each agent BUT there is code change needed so that switching agents will automatically load the variant that you configured for the agent. I opened a PR for that
