Application Response Delay – Very Slow Processing Despite Stable Network #2704

I am not entirely sure if this qualifies strictly as a bug, but from a user’s perspective, when the application does not behave as expected, it feels like one.

Currently, I am experiencing extremely long response times. I am not certain why this is happening. My network connection is stable, but the application still takes a very long time to process responses.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Start a new session.
  2. Send a simple message/query.
  3. Observe the delay in response.

Expected Behavior:
The application should respond promptly under stable network conditions.

Actual Behavior:
The response takes much longer than expected, even though the network is stable.

Additional Context:
Please see the attached screenshots for timestamps and context of the issue.

Are you saying it takes a second to get feedback? Or are you saying it takes a long time to see response start streaming?

Because if it is the later it is most likely just your provider having some latency, as context increases (due to mcp servers for instance or just longer sessions) you may notice longer wait times. But generally this isn't an opencode issue.

However maybe you can tell me a bit more and I can help assist you better

I've tried multiple providers/models and sadly have to agree with @gendonholaholo
This is a beautiful TUI but even navigating settings takes seconds, it's unbelievably slow.

@corv89 if navigating settings is super slow it sounds like this is a tui performance issue.

The tui is currently being rewritten in a library that should be much more performant, so I think this will be fixed for you very soon1

    @corv89

Having dug a bit deeper, I saw extremely high memory consumption on startup (10s of GB) and git being pinned at 100% CPU.

To be fair I threw a large repo at it.

Let me know if you'd like more details to help with debugging. It's a nice app, hope it gets fixed!
