Thanks for updating the issue! It now includes a clear description of the regression, affected versions, and concrete steps to reproduce. We appreciate the detail.
Duplicate of #30877 (TUI sidebar "Modified Files" hidden after the v1.16 path-truncation change; same v1.16.x regression window).
PR #44796, which closes #30877 by restoring the session-level Session.diff and republishing the session.diff event, may also resolve this issue — but I am not 100% certain it covers every case reported here. Cross-referencing for tracking.
Closing as a duplicate of #30877, which tracks the session diff / "Modified Files" sidebar breaking since v1.16. That issue has an open fix PR. Please follow and 👍 there.
