opencode web UI cannot browse or select folders outside the default user profile (e.g., D:\code\python) #6490
when I try to add a new project in my D drive in windows via the web opencode interface running the "opencode web --port 4096" command, it doesn't allow me to enter windows path and no good way to select it.
it is only showing me things like Downloads folder, Contacts, etc so I am presuming it just shows things inside C:/Users/ folder, for reference this is what I used in terminal->
PS D:\code\python> opencode web --port 4096
AI translation of the issue:
Description
When launching the OpenCode web UI with
PS D:\code\python> opencode web --port 4096
the “New Project” dialog only shows directories that belong to the current Windows user profile (e.g., C:\Users<user>\Downloads, Contacts, …).
It is impossible to type or browse a path that resides on another drive (e.g., D:\code\python). As a result I cannot create a project in the directory where I actually want to work.

opencode web - thinks it is in root (/) path #6336: opencode web - thinks it is in root (/) path - While this issue focuses on Linux path detection, it appears to be related to web UI path handling limitations, similar to your experience with the project dialog not allowing navigation outside default directories.
Feel free to ignore if this doesn't address your specific case.
Using Omarcy with OpenCode Web is great, but it doesn't allow navigating directories when trying to open a new project, only the first level, same issue.
Using window.showDirectoryPicker instead of the current lister would be a clean solution, though a fallback approach may still be needed to support Firefox and Safari.
It seems like it could be related to using spaces in fuzzy search? Web does not fuzzy-search outside of home dir so you must use the actual dir. Solution would be to first fuzzy search and then tab to autocomplete. Unsure if this is the actual solution, but this worked for me

Yeah, this is right, tab opens the folder you are currently on.

i have workaround in windows, open powershell as Administrator and run opencode web there. Works for me tho ;D

Workaround for Windows: the picker silently rejects backslashes but accepts forward slashes. Type the path with
/instead of\.Tested on Windows 11 with opencode 1.3.11 (winget install).
Still a bug — the input field should normalize separators or at least surface why a path was rejected — but this unblocks people in the meantime.
