copilot provider models is so much slower lately #8585
Like literally wont even start working until 10 minutes have past. No indication of throttling or anything. 5.2-Codex is just sitting there doing nothing, then it runs one command, then waits another 10 minutes. I'm actually having issues across multiple providers. OpenAI too. OpenCode seems to just not be processing requests today, but I have a hard time believing its anything to do with OpenCode. Maybe just MS infra?

The same happening to me. I thought it was just slow during peak hours, but once I switch back to copilot in VS Code, it went back to normal speed. I have oh-my-opencode plugin installed also btw.
After installing the latest oh-my-opencode (bunx oh-my-opencode@v3.0.0-beta.9 install) and opencode auth logout then /connect again, it seems fixed the issue.
It's super slow!! it runs a grep command then keeps waiting for a couple mins to move on!
It feels like there are kind of throttling or rate limiting once using it for long!
Yea I was using codex all day in vscode chat (copilot). Fast and responsive, but I just dont like the agent. Back to opencode, soooooo slow. Minutes between a read of a file and then next tool call.
Edit: It seems specific to the 5.2 codex model. Switching to regular 5.2 is much faster.
from what i've been experiencing it seems like it is my ISP issues
model from copilot provider working normally and fast as is when im using Cloudflare WARP and immediately got performance degradation right after turned it off
I'm using OpenAI Codex 5.3. It's fast when the session starts, but it becomes very slow as time goes on. You could see the time interval between the messages is increasing.
Sounds like the inference on the Copilot API is very slow, rather than this being an issue with OpenCode. The OpenAI provider is much faster in comparison.
On my system this is clearly an OpenCode issue.
I ran 1.2.27 for a while with no speed issues.
Today I upgraded to 1.3.13 and it became unusable with Copilot.
Rolling back to 1.2.27 immediately fixed the issue

For the openai models, maybe try now?
For the other models (anthropic/google) will update

Really really slow here too. Operations take at least 10 minutes to do something. Using Codex 5.3 on default.

Might be that MS/GH are starting to throttle or ban third party access (just like google are doing). See this reddit thread

yes super slow

It's been really slow lately using Copilot models. It's as though requests are timing out.
It's super fast when switching to Zen or FIreworks etc.

I can confirm this, both openai and claude models on Copilot Providers are running extremely slow.

@SII-CF Thanks for the heads up. I downgraded to 1.2.27 and it's nice and speedy now!
Definitely an OpenCode problem.

Is this still an issue with the latest version?

looks like it's still an issue with the latest version

Still a problem - using opencode-cli 1.4.6 - combined with copilot business and claude sonnet 4.5 model.
Thinking takes almost 10 minutes before actually doing anything.
SII-CF commentedon Apr 24, 2026
Hi,
I upgraded to v1.14.22 today - and it is speedy again for me
