Windows & Ubuntu: impossible to paste API key after /connect (Ctrl-V / Ctrl-Shift-V / right-click all fail, no hints) #9922

Closed as not planned

Description

@ericdong2012

Description

In Windows and Ubuntu, after using /connect, entering the API key here is really difficult. Ctrl+V doesn't work, Ctrl+Shift+V doesn't work either, right-clicking with the mouse doesn't work, and there are no prompt instructions...

This issue might be a duplicate of existing issues. Please check:

All of these issues report similar paste functionality problems on Windows and Linux systems where Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Shift+V, and right-click paste don't work.

Feel free to ignore if your specific case differs from these.

it looks to me this problem affects not only API keys, but everything. At the v1.2.10 the problem is still unresolved in Linux (I'm using Mint 22.3).

First, regular shortcuts, like CTRL+V or CTRL+SHIFT+V do not work for copying or pasting. On reddit I found infor that worked; CTRL+INSERT to copy and SHIFT+INSERT to paste, but...

I tried regular Terminal and Terminator, but it is the same behavior:

Selecting the text in the terminal produces the Tooltip "Copied to clipboard", but in fact it is not copied. If I would click SHIFT+INSERT, I would not get the latest copied text, but some text I copied in another application. So it looks that pasting with SHIFT+INSERT works, but copying by mouse selection or CTRL+INSERT does not work.

I find if I right click enough times it will sometimes show me a right click menu where I can paste. Ctrl+V, Ctrl+Shift+V, etc does not work. Only the right click if I keep clicking over and over and over. I'm on Fedora 43 with Wayland.

ah, the tried and true "Sometimes it probably works, definitely at random times, I think"

loll cheers, just sounds like a funny solution

Same issue in WSL2. The only way mine works is shift + left click, for some reason.

Same issue here. How are we supposed to even start using opencode with API keys if we can't paste them? I won't type that long string.

I thought I was just being dumb, but I really can't paste

I can paste fine. It's the submission that's failing to work for me. WSL terminal I had to Ctrl+Enter which also triggered full screen worked.

You can use Ctrl + Shift + V to paste, but only if it is enabled in the Command Prompt properties.

    To enable it:

    1. Right-click the title bar of the Command Prompt window
    2. Select Properties
    3. Check the box labeled “Use Ctrl+Shift+C/V as Copy/Paste”

Try the pressing the scroll button (middle) if you have one. This pasted my clipboard text.

    我的小乖乖啊,我发现了,要按住 Shift + 右键 才能贴进去。
My baby, I found the truth, please press Shift, then right click.
