magic context created sessions that are done with their tasks (dreamer, historian, etc) arent being archived or hidden

    Thanks for the report.

    Two things from your diagnostics:

    1. OpenCode is still loading 0.43.2. The plugin cache shows ~/.cache/opencode/npm/@cortexkit/opencode-magic-context@latest at 0.43.2, while 0.44.4 is current. OpenCode doesn't refresh a cached @latest on its own. Running npx @cortexkit/magic-context doctor clears the outdated copy, and OpenCode fetches the current version on its next start. From 0.44.2 on, the historian and dreamer delete their own finished sessions when OpenCode lets the plugin do that.
    2. Some sessions can't be deleted from inside OpenCode 2. OpenCode 2 doesn't give plugins a way to delete sessions, or to create hidden ones, in every mode (plain opencode serve is one of them). Magic Context then logs how many finished sessions are waiting. To remove the ones already there, close OpenCode and run npx @cortexkit/magic-context doctor --fix. It checks that nothing has the database open, backs up opencode.db, and deletes only sessions that Magic Context itself created and finished.

    The underlying limitation is OpenCode 2's plugin API: it offers no parent session or hidden flag when creating a session. We're preparing an upstream request for it. On OpenCode 1, our next release makes these sessions children of one of your sessions, so they stop showing up as separate entries.

    Partly. Here is where it stands:

    • Deleted after each run: yes, from 0.44.2. Once a historian or dreamer run finishes, Magic Context deletes its session. That needs OpenCode 2 to give the plugin its server address, which it does when OpenCode runs as a registered background service. Your log shows OpenCode still loading a cached 0.43.2, which predates that fix, so the first step is npx @cortexkit/magic-context@latest doctor, which clears the cached copy.
    • Plain opencode serve (for example under OpenChamber) doesn't register that service, so the plugin can't delete sessions while OpenCode is running. It logs how many are waiting instead. Close OpenCode and run npx @cortexkit/magic-context@latest doctor --fix to remove them, including the ones already piled up.
    • Hidden or archived while they exist: no. OpenCode 2 gives plugins no way to create a hidden or child session, and it has no archive action a plugin can use, so they show in the session list until they're deleted. We're preparing a request to OpenCode for a plugin-facing way to create hidden sessions.

    One more thing: the missing pieces on OpenCode 2 (letting a plugin create its sessions as children of your session, and delete them) are tracked upstream in anomalyco/opencode#49389. Once those land, Magic Context's sessions will be hidden under their parent and cleaned up automatically. A +1 there helps show OpenCode how many people this affects.

    Empirical result that may unblock the OpenChamber case without waiting on the upstream capabilities: a plain opencode serve host does have a working runtime deletion route — the plugin just doesn't discover its own credentials.

    Verified on OpenCode 2.0.18 + OpenChamber 2.0.4 (plugin 0.44.4 dist):

    1. DELETE /api/session/:sessionID works on a plain serve instance. On OpenChamber's managed instance (opencode serve --hostname 127.0.0.1 --port 41317, no --service), an authenticated create → delete round-trip returns 204.

    2. The credentials are already inside the plugin's own process under OpenChamber:

      • OpenChamber injects the server password into the managed instance's environment — it sets OPENCODE_PASSWORD (and the legacy OPENCODE_SERVER_PASSWORD) on the spawned process (openchamber server/lib/opencode/lifecycle.js, spawn env block).
      • The hostname/port are on process.argv: serve --hostname <h> --port <p>.

    So a fallback in removeHostSession/resolveOwnerHostService — when no owner-bound registration exists, read OPENCODE_PASSWORD (or OPENCODE_SERVER_PASSWORD) plus the argv hostname/port and delete through my own host — would make runtime deletion work for every host that launches opencode serve with an injected password, which is exactly the OpenChamber shape. Today HostServiceUnavailable fires before any HTTP call, even though a usable route is two environment variables away.

    Scope: this doesn't cover bare opencode serve (random password printed to stdout only) or non-listening processes, so the registration path and anomalyco/opencode#49389 remain the general answers — but it would cover the OpenChamber scenario as-is. The same fallback also helps the ephemeral background-subagent lane (when those processes inherit the injected env), tracked in #594; and the failure mode that generated most of our pile is in #595.

    Workaround for OpenChamber users meanwhile: OpenChamber (2.0.4+) can attach to an already-registered service instance instead of spawning its own — OPENCODE_HOST=http://127.0.0.1:<port>, OPENCODE_SKIP_START=true, OPENCODE_SERVER_PASSWORD=<password from ~/.local/state/opencode/service.json> — then all sessions, hidden ones included, are created by the service process and the existing owner-bound deletion works.

    Thanks for verifying this, and for the OpenChamber workaround. Attaching OpenChamber to a registered service instance (OPENCODE_HOST, OPENCODE_SKIP_START=true, plus the password from service.json) is a good interim path for anyone hitting this today.

    We're not adding the password-and-port fallback, for the reason in my reply on #594. Upstream OpenCode has merged plugin-side session removal and parented child sessions (anomalyco/opencode#49389) on its v2 branch, and we're building on that now. Hidden runs will be children of your session and removed in-process when they finish. That covers plain opencode serve, OpenChamber and the background-subagent processes alike, with no credentials involved.

    It needs the next OpenCode 2 release after 2.0.21. Once that ships, we'll require it and remove the current workarounds. I'll update here when it does.

    Fixed in 0.45.0, now on npm. On OpenCode 2.0.22 and newer, each historian and dreamer run gets its own session under yours, and Magic Context deletes it through OpenCode's session API when the run ends. Background sessions that earlier versions left behind are deleted in small batches at startup.

    To update, quit every OpenCode and Pi process first: the database migrates on first start, which can take up to a minute on a large database. OpenCode 1 and Pi pick up the new version on restart. On OpenCode 2 (2.0.22 or newer is now required), open /plugins, select Magic Context and press ctrl+u, or run opencode plugin update. If you still see this on 0.45.0, please reopen with a log.
