   Fixed in 36e4586. list_bucket now catches httpx.HTTPError when an object server is unreachable and returns 503 (the documented code for an upstream object-server failure) instead of an uncaught-exception 500. 502/504 were considered but rejected — the locator coordinates object servers rather than acting as a gateway/proxy. Added a regression test (test_list_bucket_server_down).

   Follow-up: the "override to list what's available" idea (partial results from healthy servers) was deliberately left out of scope — worth a separate issue.
