Description
Idea: native GUI client
From pkgs/id/TODO.md:
A native GUI (Tauri, egui, Tauri+egui, Leptos, Dioxus, Iced, Bevy — to be chosen) that does what the TUI idea does, faster and better. Keep in mind a Bevy project may later be embedded into the native app, or the native app into Bevy.
Distinct from F13.6 (#788), which is a reference native shell on the Phase 13 shell contract; this is the full end-user GUI app idea. Long-term, low priority.
Coordination (2026-10-26 reprioritization, per Drew): every id roadmap item now has its own GitHub issue, and priority encodes the order: (1) the path to Phase 12 — now + priority/high; (2) Phase 12 itself — next; (3) Phase 13 and long-term ideas — priority/low. The dashboard mirrors this list (org Project "Developing Today" #4, Area id-train; Grist Program roadmap, Area id). If this item turns out to be blocked, wrong, or superseded, park or close it with a note rather than letting it stall the queue — dropping an issue is always allowed; silently stalling is not.
Acceptance criteria
- A GUI stack decision is recorded on this issue (candidates: Tauri, egui, Tauri+egui, Leptos, Dioxus, Iced, Bevy) with rationale, including the Bevy-embedding consideration.
- The scope boundary against F13.6 (id: Phase 13 F13.6 native client shells on the shell contract #788, reference native shell) is stated explicitly.
- If the idea is adopted, a first implementation step is filed as its own issue; if dropped, the reason is recorded here.

Intake review
Related: F13.6 reference native shell: #788 · sibling idea: native TUI client #1071 · source:
pkgs/id/TODO.mdNotes: Long-term, priority/low. This is the full end-user GUI app, distinct from the F13.6 reference shell — conflating the two would double-build the shell layer.
Risks: Stack choice is hard to reverse once a client exists; the decision record matters more than speed here.
Suggested approach: Prototype-free evaluation is acceptable at this stage: score the candidates against the shell contract (#783 lineage) and the TUI idea's protocol needs before committing.
Labels were already normalized by the filer (kind, source/human, status/needs-triage, priority, effort, app/id all present); this pass appended the acceptance criteria above and adds

Design follow-on filed (WS-F gap pass, 2026-11-04): #5782 — "id: design: graphical client & tooling surface — windowing, world inspector, debug UI" designs the surface this idea points at (multi-world windowing, journal/triple inspector, replay/debug tooling), and now links back here as its idea-level precursor. This issue's stack decision remains the framework input to that design.

Picked up as task 8810 by lane code-c (repo-queue worker) and handed off to the opencode execution lane per the execution-lane assignment for task 8810. The laptop claimant launches the bound opencode session for task 8810; this lane does not work issue #1072 directly. Note: task 8810 is at attempts 15/24.
