Follow-on design ticket from #5671 — its decomposition sketch names this as a separate design, and the parent's acceptance requires these tickets to be filed and linked. Filed in the 2026-11-04 gap pass (WS-F) so the design work exists and can be prioritised on its own merits; implementation timing is a separate decision, possibly months out.
What this design must settle
Traversing HTTP CONNECT proxies — proxy auth, corporate proxies, and a locally terminated endpoint for SSH-class traffic.
Context from the parent
The parent design fixes how ID clients and servers stay reachable when UDP is denied — fallback order, broker shapes, trust model, and the E2E boundary. The parent issue carries the surrounding decisions this ticket must not re-decide; where this ticket's answer would change a parent decision, record that explicitly rather than silently forking it.
Decision record expected
Close this design with a recorded decision (on this issue or in a doc/ record linked from it): the chosen shape, the alternatives rejected and why, and the invariants implementation must hold. If the design splits further, file the splits and link them here rather than growing this issue.
Relations
Parent: #5671. Programme: epic #2056. Filed by WS-F (2026-11-04 ID design gap & expansion pass).
No decision record for HTTP CONNECT proxy traversal exists yet: no doc/ design record on current main covers CONNECT traversal for the ID transport (searched doc/ design records + full-text for the parent design at 04f7869).
Parent state: issue id: design: ID transport fallback for UDP-denied networks v1 #5671 is OPEN and its decisions (fallback order, broker shapes, trust model, E2E boundary) are NOT yet recorded — its own triage (task 10105) was claimed and handed off to the opencode claimant today (2026-11-05T12:32Z), and the parent carries parked labels.
Ordering / blocker (recorded per triage acceptance):
Next action, in order: (1) task 10105 / the parent triage settles or scopes id: design: ID transport fallback for UDP-denied networks v1 #5671's decision record; (2) a design pass on this issue then records the CONNECT decision (chosen shape, alternatives rejected, implementation invariants) on this issue or in a linked doc/ record; (3) implementation tickets are filed from that record — per the filing note, implementation timing is a separate decision, possibly months out, so no implementation follow-up is enqueued by this triage.

Verdict: VALID design ticket, correctly filed and linked — but ORDERED BEHIND ITS PARENT. Not superseded, not yet actionable.
Evidence (fresh, 2026-11-05):
doc/design record on current main covers CONNECT traversal for the ID transport (searcheddoc/design records + full-text for the parent design at 04f7869).Ordering / blocker (recorded per triage acceptance):
