Description
More shells (mobile, native, hardware) — v1 — first-iteration design
Part of the Phase 14 core topic #6279 (More shells (mobile, native, hardware)), filed from the next-horizons discussion #1240 per Drew's 2026-11-05 decision. The Phase 14 epic links the whole map.
Scope (rough outline — the core topic's research refines it)
PWA/mobile shell v1 on the shell contract: join, view screens, chat, offline read of last-known state, clean reconnect. Conformance-checked like every shell. Deliverable: design doc + implementation breakdown.
Entry condition
The core topic's research (#6279) has produced its first-pass findings, and the design-queue items ahead of it (see core issue) are moving.
Deliverable
A design document (in .opencode/plans/ or doc/) plus a breakdown of implementation issues for this step, linked from this issue and the core topic.
Drew's Phase 14 principles (#1240) govern this step: local-first always; hostable by anyone at any scale; p2p behavior identical to hosted behavior; our hosted instance is the public backstop, never a requirement.
Acceptance criteria
- A design outline for this iteration is recorded on this issue (or in a linked design doc) covering scope, non-goals, and the key decisions this iteration must settle.
- Open questions and decision points needing Drew's ruling are listed explicitly on the issue.
- Follow-up implementation work is filed as linked issues (native sub-issues / blocked-by relations per protocol §11), not left as prose in this outline.
- The relationship to the sibling iterations of the same phase-14 topic is linked from this issue.

Claimed for triage. Fresh check: issue #6296 is OPEN, no hard-stop labels, and no matching open PR was found. I am checking its explicit entry condition and Phase 14 design order before recording whether v1 can proceed.

Triage (task 11067) — sequencing blocker, not superseded
Fresh checks at 2026-11-06T16:14Z: #6296 is OPEN, has no hard-stop labels, and has no matching open PR. No matching "More shells (mobile, native, hardware)" research/design document exists in tracked
origin/main; the Phase 14 plan is still the authoritative sequencing record. Not ready to start: the entry condition in this issue is not met. Core topic #6279 remains OPEN and its current content is a research/design charter and question list, not first-pass findings. The Phase 14 plan #6312 and #6279 both put F12.4/#1061 and F12.10/#1067 designs first. Both remain OPEN; #1061 is still queue/queued + status/needs-triage (its open PR #4965 is a provider-registration test, not the design deliverable), and #1067 has no matching open PR/design output.
Ordering: after those designs, Phase 14 v1 work is hosted worlds → discovery → agents spike → ecosystem → shells (#6296), then scale and creator tooling. The v2/v3/v4 sibling outlines #6297–#6299 remain OPEN as intended. For later implementation planning, Phase 13 F13.6/#788 remains OPEN; F13.7/#789 is CLOSED.
Resume condition: begin #6296 after #6279 has first-pass research findings and the #1061/#1067 design gate is moving, then follow #6312 ordering; record the v1 design and split implementation into linked issues. No implementation started and no new follow-up task was needed because the prerequisites and sibling ladder already have tracked issues.
