Renovate PR #828 bumps only p2panda-auth in spikes/shared — five sibling p2panda deps stay on the old rev, against the #643 grouping rule #829

Finding

Renovate PR #828 ("chore(deps): update p2panda-auth digest to da80c05", commit be04999) bumps exactly one p2panda crate in doc/2026-10-11T03-44-33Z_design_groups_events_delegation/spikes/shared/Cargo.toml:

  • p2panda-auth: rev 3e84cac48bba05c6857cce2ec433862b97f8d53c → da80c05b95269926bf58121cf6a2d3dd5ca41dfc

In the same [workspace.dependencies] table, verified on current main (d95000a1), five sibling crates from the same upstream repo stay on the old rev: p2panda-core, p2panda-encryption, p2panda-sync, p2panda-store, p2panda-stream — all still 3e84cac.

Why it matters

Acceptance criteria

  • One grouped change moves all six p2panda-* revs in spikes/shared/Cargo.toml to the same rev (or chore(deps): update p2panda-auth digest to da80c05 #828 is closed and doc/ spikes are explicitly excluded from Renovate's cargo manager, with the reason recorded)
  • grep of that file shows a single shared p2panda rev
  • The spike workspace still resolves/builds (cargo check in spikes/shared), or its non-building status is documented as pre-existing

    Intake review

Still live: PR #828 is still OPEN and unmerged (verified this run), and the spike manifest skew it reports is therefore unresolved; the real code in pkgs/id/Cargo.toml already pins all p2panda deps at da80c05 as the issue states.

Related: PR #828, #643 (closed — the split-bump build break that produced the grouping rule in renovate.json), #830 (sibling Renovate finding).

Notes / risks: CI is green on #828 precisely because the doc spike is not built by those checks — green checks are not evidence this is safe. Building the spike pulls two revs of p2panda-core with incompatible types.

Suggested approach: either land one grouped change moving all six p2panda-* revs in spikes/shared/Cargo.toml together, or close #828 and exclude doc/ spikes from Renovate's cargo manager with the reason recorded — do not merge the single-crate bump.

🤖 Fleet monitor intake enrichment — labels normalized and meta/enriched applied this pass (acceptance criteria already present in the body).

Direction chosen: bump all six to da80c05b (the rev pkgs/id already pins for the whole set), not revert auth.

Pre-existing breakage documented on PR #5053 (found during verification, proven at the parent commit, out of this issue's scope): on a clean checkout the spike workspace cannot load — member s6-index has no directory in git, and s3-history's patched/p2panda-encryption path copy was never committed (only logs/patch.diff was). Both were reconstructed locally (patch applies cleanly at da80c05; s6-index stub deps taken from its lock entry) solely to regenerate the lock and run the checks, and deleted before committing. Committing those two pieces is a separate decision for the spike's owner.

    event: done
task: 7598 (repo-worker-code, opencode execution lane)
state: already_done — fresh GitHub checks show issue #829 CLOSED, PR #828 MERGED, and follow-up PR #5053 MERGED at 14ccb2e. Current main spikes/shared/Cargo.toml has all six p2panda crates at da80c05b95269926bf58121cf6a2d3dd5ca41dfc. Prior task 8125 reports cargo checks passed.
bookkeeping: queue task completed; backlog/sweep.log mirror could not be reached because laptop-ssh.sh requires HTTPS_PROXY, which is not configured in this session.
