(perf): startup shows the first sidebar rows ~2.5 s later than v0.0.94 #674

Open

Description

@devsuitup

Measured 16/10 on Windows 11, packaged CI builds, isolated instance, same copy of a real database (939 sessions, 7 projects, one remote host), restore off, warm runs, time from launch to the first .session-item in the sidebar (CDP poll every 100 ms):

build run 1 run 2
v0.0.94 2.3 s 2.6 s
main 5ce9760 (+ #672) 5.3 s 4.7 s
#646 9ce1657 (on 5ce9760) 5.4 s 5.5 s

The slowdown is already on main before #646; #646 adds nothing measurable. Bisect between v0.0.94 and 5ce9760.

Also seen during the #646 quit qualification: quitting during the startup scan logs [status] (error) Scan worker exited unexpectedly, which is the intended worker stop at shutdown, not a crash; it should not be logged as an error.

    Decided by Jean-Baptiste in person, 2026-11-03: one quiet one-hour slot (VPN, Firefox and local sessions off) to take the #616, #674 and #691 measurements together.

    Quiet-slot measurement 2026-11-03 (VPN/Firefox off, machine load median 15.5 %), source runs from worktrees, Electron 41.0.3, fixture of 954 sessions, throwaway HOME. Comparable between versions, not with the earlier packaged absolute numbers.

    Launch → first session row (warm DB, restore off, n=7 each): v0.0.93 median 3069 ms (2967–3256), v0.0.94 3049 ms (2926–3272), main 259011f 2156 ms (1971–2224). main is ~0.9 s faster than v0.0.94; the 2.5 s regression is not reproduced on this fixture. Caveat: the original report used the real DB and a remote host. Raw: .work-files/perf-slot/out-20261103-110033/summary.md (local)
