C# Dev Kit missing Command Palette commands and Run button doesn't work on Ubuntu 26.04 lts (F5 works) #9578

Extension

C# Dev Kit
C# extension

VS Code

Version: 1.130.0 (Snap)
Commit: 1b6a188127eeaf9194f945eb6eb89a657e93c54c

OS:
Ubuntu 26.04 LTS
Linux 7.0.0-28-generic x64

.NET SDK:
10.0.x

Problem

The project debugger works normally (F5), but the Run button in the editor does nothing for C# projects.

Additionally, expected C# commands are missing from the Command Palette.

For example, searching for:

C#:

does not show commands such as:

• C#: Restart Language Server
• C#: Select Project
• C#: Generate Assets

Instead, VS Code only shows unrelated "similar commands".

What works

• IntelliSense
• Syntax highlighting
• F5 debugging
• Breakpoints
• dotnet run from terminal
• Single-file C# execution

What doesn't work

• Editor Run (▶) button for C# project
• Missing C# Command Palette commands

Steps to reproduce

1. Install Ubuntu 26.04 LTS.
2. Install VS Code (Snap).
3. Install the Microsoft C# and C# Dev Kit extensions.
4. Create a new console project using:
   dotnet new console
5. Open the folder in VS Code.
6. Press the Run button.

Expected

Run button starts the project.
C# commands appear in the Command Palette.

Actual

Run button does nothing.
F5 still works.
C# commands are missing from the Command Palette.

Additional information

I also tested:

• VS Code .deb package
• VS Code Snap package
• Fresh extension installation
• Fresh project
• Reinstalled Ubuntu

The behavior is identical.

Python projects work correctly in the same VS Code installation.
