Eclipse AI: provide plugin eclipse.ai to support LLM #2097
Support can be improved by providing something like https://github.com/Mozilla-Ocho/llamafile, which allows LLMs to be run with a single file (without the need for another third-party local server (e.g., Ollama, LM Studio) that needs to be run outside of the Eclipse IDE).

I understand suggesting an enhancement doesn't mandate anyone to implement it. Other contributors may consider this suggestion, or not, at their own convenience. The most efficient way to get it fixed is that I implement it myself and contribute it back as a good quality patch to the project.
Copilot-Plugin s a client app that talks to the GitHub online services. But it would be very useful to extend this plugin to provide the use cases mentioned above.
Adding some AI assistance into Eclipse is already doable (see for example Copilot or other marketplace AI assistant), without need to change anything in Eclipse Platform so far.
Supporting AI is a downstream topic, that would be better covered as a new Eclipse project. So I'm going to close it here as there is nothing Eclipse Platform should act upon.
Please get in touch with the wider Eclipse IDE community (for example on the ide-dev@eclipse.org mailing-list) to discuss this idea with others, and maybe start a new Eclipse project, or get Eclipse Foundation to buy a new eclipse.ai domain out of this discussion.
