Enable token usage to be reported in CLI for any session #2947

Closed

Description

@keithboone

Describe the feature or problem you'd like to solve

Github CLI should be able to track token usage for a session.

Proposed solution

Token usage is a cost metric. Tracking token usage by session allows users to track their usage.

Example prompts or workflows

How many tokens have we used so far?
How many tokens have we used since the last time I asked this question? (e.g., Are we there yet?)

    @examon

    This should be resolved as of v1.0.64. The /usage slash command reports token usage for the current session, and that release added a per-model breakdown of those totals. Note that it shows running session totals rather than a delta since you last asked. If that does not cover what you were after, comment with details and we will take another look.
