🐛 Feature request: ability to opt-in to full firestore SDK on Other platform #8540

Open

Description

@julian-hecker

What feature would you like to see?

Hi all, wonderful work with this package.

I had a small inconvenience with this package -- I would like the ability to opt-in to the full firestore SDK rather than firestore lite. My application uses onSnapshot, and to achieve full feature parity on web, would need that to be included.

    This may be possible, and it also may be possible at the same time to make the firebase-js-sdk dependency optional

    using package.json peer dependency specifications and meta information about optionality we may be able to make the firebase-js-sdk dependency optional on the app package, but non-optional on ai/vertexai (where its required)

    then we could specify both the lite and the full SDKs in the optional block for firestore, and consumers could decide

    I believe (needs verification) that it's possible to detect whether the dependency was met as you try to import it such that we can give developers a big warning / error if it's the "Other" platform and there is no firebase implementation available
