What changed in Copilot CLI
These updates are based on Copilot CLI v1.0.63 (released 2026-06-16), the most recent release within the last 7 days.
New features found
deferToolsMCP server config option — Keeps a server's tools always available even when Copilot's tool-search feature is active. Previously, Copilot could silently hide tools it predicted weren't needed for a task.Agent mode is now session-scoped — Agent mode no longer carries over when you create a new session, clear the conversation, or switch sessions. Each new session starts in default mode.
