dexie validation 7.0.0-dev.20260219.1 works, 7.0.0-dev.20260222.1 fails #2873

Description

I'm now getting:

With the latest 7.0.0-dev.20260222.1, 7.0.0-dev.20260219.1 validates with no issues. I had a quick look through the PRs but couldn't see anything...

This is intentional. These are deprecated in TS 6.0 (silenceble with "ignoreDeprecations": "6.0"), but are a hard error in TS 7.0.

    #2760, microsoft/TypeScript#62876

But perhaps this implies that it's still unsafe to do this in declaration files.

It's beyond me why anyone would still be publishing things like this, but, https://github.com/dexie/Dexie.js/blob/d59cc44aaf8acba93503f620cfb0d81d003875c1/src/public/index.d.ts#L42 is handwritten, and they are still on TS 5.6.

You can patch the dep for now, at least...

I can confirm this also happens for playwright-core@1.55.0

Playwright already fixed this, in microsoft/playwright#38558, released in v1.58.

Ok thanks. I guess the claim on the readme Parsing/scanning done Exact same syntax errors as TS 6.0 isn't strictly true then. If something is deprecated it isn't an error, right? I'll submit a fix to dexie if one isn't queued.

Ah, must have missed it. Thank you

I guess, if we're being pedantic...

Pedantry is typically pretty good in programming contexts...

got the same problem with dexie, but ignoreDeprecations: "6.0" doesn't help

Yes, because this codebase is TS 7.0, where we've entirely removed things that were deprecated in TS 6.0.
