Issue Report: Extension Host Instability & Icon Display Failures
Environment

• OS: Windows (win32-x64)
• VS Code: Current installation with multiple active extensions
• User: (report includes paths like %APPDATA%\Code)
  Symptoms
• Missing or incorrect extension icons across the activity bar and side panel.
• Intermittent unresponsiveness of the Extension Host process.
• Corrupted cache and extension state, leading to UI glitches and performance delays.
• Grammar scope conflicts, with multiple extensions overwriting syntax definitions (e.g. for log, yaml, sql, java).
• Inconsistent or fallback icon rendering despite active icon themes (e.g. Material Icon Theme).
• Overlapping command registrations, specifically:
• Gemini Code Assist and Oracle Java extensions both attempt to register common commands (e.g. debug.run, debug.start).
• ms-python.vscode-pylance requests a deprecated proposal (mcpConfigurationProvider).
• Extension Storage Bloat:
• google.geminicodeassist exceeding 735KB in state storage and triggering warnings.
• Activation Failures:
• ms-python.python fails to activate due to version incompatibility.
• Gemini and Cloud Code extensions take excessive time to activate.
