Horizontal separators in Python interpreter list #17944

Closed

Description

@cdce8p

microsoft/vscode#137745

With the last release, the Jupyter extensions added horizontal separators with labels to the notebook kernel list. The Python interpreter list is already sorted. If it's possible, I think it would be a nice usability improvement to add separators there as well.

    The QuickItemSeparator is part of the proposed APIs for VS Code 1.63.0.

    Kartik Raj (@karrtikr) I just built the extension from the main branch to have a look for myself. It's just like I had imagined it, a great addition! Thanks for implementing it! Looking forward to using it in production 😍

    Glad you like it 😊 FYI you can use the command Python: Switch to Insiders if you want to install the latest main branch as an extension.

    👍🏻 I'm not a huge fan of the old insider support tbh, especially since it updates automatically. I prefer a bit more control about how and when I update. Looking forward to the dedicated pre-releases though, #18144.

    That's fair. It's a bit messy atm but running Python: Switch to default channel following Python: Switch to Insiders should stop the automatic updates.

    And yes, we plan to adopt #18144 very soon.
