Chat input agent picker switches back to 'Agent' while the underlying agent is still 'Ask' #342363
Description
Steps to reproduce
- Open Chat and select the Ask agent in the agent/mode picker in the chat input.
- Continue using the chat (e.g. send a request).
Expected
The picker in the chat input keeps showing Ask, matching the agent that is actually in use.
Actual
The picker in the chat input switches back to showing Agent, but the underlying agent is still Ask (requests continue to run as Ask). The UI and the actual agent state are out of sync.

One useful regression: select Ask, send a turn, then start a follow-up and assert the picker label and submitted mode both remain Ask. Repeat Ask → Agent → Ask before sending to catch a stale label separately from a stale request mode. Disclosure: I’m with BOMTOBE, building Orke; I haven’t reproduced this in VS Code.
