Here are a few potential conferences that can allow us to put our summit near them:
- London:
- CityJS: https://london.cityjsconf.org/ (17th of April)
- International JavaScript Conference: https://javascript-conference.com/london/
- React Advanced and others
- (JS meetups do 60+ attendees here)
- Vienna
- HalfStack https://halfstackconf.com/vienna (8th of June)
- Prague
- Open Source Summit (7-8th October), organized by the Linux Foundation
- Dublin
- NodeConf.eu (fall 2026)
- Tokyo
- TC39 (end of September)
- JSConf JP (November)
As far as I'm aware, we have viable hosts in all cities but Tokyo (to be confirmed).
Feel free to edit this post with additional information.
There is also the consideration that, depending on the OpenJS community fund, there may not be enough money for all collaborators to travel twice.

Should this be moved to https://github.com/openjs-foundation/summit/issues?

By the way, TPAC 2026 is not in Japan (but funny enough it's in Dublin https://www.w3.org/events/tpac/2026/)

Based on the response received, I propose we hold the H1 Collaborator Summit in London either 14th-15th of April or 15th-16th of April 2026. Any objections?
mcollina commentedon Nov 19, 2025
Given that tere has been no objections, let's try to see if we can get the organization moving for London.
RafaelGSS commentedon Dec 2, 2025
Do we have any updates? Is April 14th~16th our final date? If so, I can start searching for flight tickets to Europe/UK (even if location changes - date is more important)
joyeecheung commentedon Dec 2, 2025
We are still in the process of confirming the host, which may affect the dates for a day or two depending on availability of the venue.

Update: we confirmed Bloomberg to be the next host and we have a room available for April 14-15 in their London office , see details in openjs-foundation/summit#474

Soooo, https://nodeconf.eu is back in Bologna, 29 and 30th of September 2026. I have reserved a room for the 1st of October in case we want to use it for the Collab Summit.

I think judging from the poll result another summit in continental Europe might be the optimal for turnout. Not sure if there are other plans from OpenJS given https://openjsf.org/blog/openjs-summit-renderatl-2026 but again from the poll result any summit in the US might have a much lower turnout than in most other options
mcollina commentedon May 12, 2026
I need to confirm the room for this asap, please discuss at the next collab summit.
joyeecheung commentedon May 13, 2026
Discussed in the TSC meeting today with a small turnout, no objection at the meeting about doing it in Bologna. For Node Interactive at Render ATL it can be a hallway track. Also there will be a code and learn in Render ATL.

I'd appreciate it that if we could avoid major public holidays next time. Oct 1st is a public holiday (the golden week) in China.
Maybe we could have a poll on preferred dates together with the preferences of places/cities for 2027.
joyeecheung commentedon May 29, 2026
Another thing to note: the TC39 meeting in Tokyo ends on Oct 1st https://github.com/tc39/agendas (which also clashes with the Chinese national holiday 😂)

NodeConf EU Collab Summit issue is now open at openjs-foundation/summit#493 - for those watching this issue (like I was)
