Switch to LFX for meetings #1842

Description

@avivkeller

cc @nodejs/TSC

I'm working on moving more Node.js meetings to LFX from the legacy Zoom accounts they were connected to. The TSC meetings appear to operate on the following schedule (shown in GMT-07:00):

  • Week 1: 6AM
  • Week 2: 8AM
  • Week 3: 3AM
  • Repeat

(fyi @bensternthal) I do not believe LFX supports this, without creating 3 separate TSC meetings... with three separate URLs, which is very inconvenient.

    please send a note to support@openjsf.org they can schedule this for you and also see if there is an option to have the same link.

    Also, we do not operate on the GMT-07:00 timezone, can we set it as UTC instead?

    Yes, any time zone can be used. I'm just using that time zone as the previous calendar uses it.

    Let's use 13 and 17 UTC on Wednesday, that's the time slot we settle in in the last TSC meeting.

    What do we need to move this forward?

    @avivkeller how do we bring guests into LFX? how do we do live streaming?

  10. avivkeller commented on Jun 17, 2026

    LFX is a wrapper around Zoom, so the process should be similar to as it was previously for streaming.

    Right now, meetings require users to be logged in to LFX with an email associated with the TSC in order to join1. This functions similarly to the password used before.

    To invite a guest, you have two options:

    1. In PCC, select the meeting and add the guest from the manage page. You can also message me or LFX Support for help.
    2. In the Zoom meeting, find the meeting ID and password, then send those details directly to the guest. They’ll join through Zoom rather than LFX.

    Footnotes

    1. If your email differs from the one in the nodejs/node README, please let me know so I can update LFX. ↩

    @bensternthal

    @avivkeller you don't need admin access to manage meetings, you can just send a note to support@openjsf.org asking for access to manage meetings for node.js, you can reference me if they need an approval.

    Also, note the following users do not currently have LFX accounts, and can create one online, or I can invite them should they choose that.

    I have a LFX account but it was created a long time ago with another email address. I tried to claim my current address but it doesn't work (and account recovery says that no account is associated with it...)

    Edit: I opened a ticket at https://jira.linuxfoundation.org/plugins/servlet/theme/portal/4/create/523 and they merged the accounts.
