Talk about how Node.js is funded - fund maintainers #6626

Open

Description

@bmuenzenmeyer

@wesleytodd and others opened up a great issue during collab summit last week. discussion coalesced around at least two discrete pieces of work.

this ticket would create a page somewhere that acknowledges maintainers and opens pathways for folks to directly support them and their work

this might require a lot of exploration and setting up of new things. some ideas:

  • GH Sponsors of individuals
    • who? how? etc
  • OpenCollective??? itself a large effort

Maybe this page builds directly off of #6625 - but since that one has a clearer scope, I suggest it go first

    We have turned on the Open Collective and GitHub sponsors and documented how the project will use them in https://github.com/nodejs/TSC/blob/main/Nodejs-Funding-Sources.md

    Moving to on hold, see nodejs/TSC#1747, we should probably wait for that to resolve
