[finding] DeleteDataRequestSchema is declared in packages/spec but never validated against — the DELETE data route bypasses request-schema validation entirely #13852
Filed unassigned — recording only, no severity asserted, routing is triage's. Surfaced while implementing #13576 (A2.2/A2.3 measurement), unrelated to that fix and not touched by its PR.
What's declared
packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts declares DeleteDataRequestSchema (object, id, expectedVersion), documented and exported, sitting right beside UpdateDataRequestSchema.
What's enforced
UpdateDataRequestSchema is safeParse'd against the assembled PATCH request in packages/rest/src/rest-server.ts before the request reaches the engine — a non-conforming body 400s with a structured fields[] envelope (search UpdateDataRequestSchema in that file, the /data/:object/:id PATCH handler).
DeleteDataRequestSchema has zerosafeParse/validation call sites anywhere in the tree. Confirmed with:
The only hits are packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts (the declaration itself), packages/spec/src/type-alias-convention.pin.test.ts, the two generated export-surface trackers (packages/spec/export-origins/api.json, packages/spec/api-surface/api.json), and the generated docs page (content/docs/references/api/protocol.mdx). No route, no handler, nothing under packages/rest/src or packages/metadata-protocol/src ever calls DeleteDataRequestSchema.safeParse(...) or equivalent.
The DELETE route (packages/rest/src/rest-server.ts, DELETE /data/:object/:id) builds its own ad hoc request shape (object, id, expectedVersion from If-Match/query) and hands it straight to protocol.deleteData(...) with no schema gate in front — unlike its PATCH sibling.
Why this looks like a real gap, not a design choice
This is the same shape ADR-0049 (enforce-or-remove) and Prime Directive #10 ("declared ≠ enforced") care about elsewhere in this repo: a schema that exists, is exported, is documented, and validates nothing. Practically the blast radius looks narrow today — object/id are path params Express already type-checks as strings, and expectedVersion's ad hoc handling (refuseRepeatedQueryParams, the If-Match/query-precedence logic) covers some of what the schema would — but the schema itself is not what's doing any of that work, and a future field added to DeleteDataRequestSchema would silently be unenforced on this door while looking enforced everywhere the type is referenced.
What I did NOT do
Did not fix this — out of scope for #13576, unrelated defect class, and #13576's own fix (the OCC malformed-token check) lives insidepackages/metadata-protocol's assertVersionOf/assertVersionMatch, which both PATCH and DELETE reach regardless of whether DeleteDataRequestSchema is ever parsed — so this gap does not affect #13576's correctness.
Not claimed
Did not check whether other DELETE-shaped routes in this repo have the same gap (this is scoped to the single /data/:object/:id DELETE data route found while tracing #13576). Did not assess severity or decide the fix (add the safeParse call to mirror PATCH, or retire the unused schema) — that's triage's call.
pm:queue → pm:blocked — hot-file serial, ⛔ not a defect in this card.
Blocked-by:PR #15436, which holds packages/rest/src/rest-server.ts — where the DELETE data route lives (method: 'DELETE' at :8174, alongside :6595 and :11073). Released when it MERGES, ⛔ never on an arm.
Measured, ⛔ not assumed: DeleteDataRequestSchema occurs today only in packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts and that package's own pin test — no consumer at all, which is exactly this card's point. ⇒ the fix necessarily lands where the route is, and that file is held.
⚠️Two things whoever takes this should know before starting, so the block is not the only surprise:
⚠️Expect clause ② yes. Wiring a request schema onto a route that today validates nothing changes what the door accepts — a body that is currently admitted may be refused afterwards. That is contract accept/reject behaviour, not a widening, and it mandates the contract-review tier. Under the maintainer's 2026-09-04 ruling 「fable 额度耗尽, pr 应该等契约复审」 the PR would be built green and then parked while that tier is unavailable (measured exhausted by attempt, HTTP 429, 14:40Z).
⭐ ⇒ The population is the first duty, not the wiring. Before anything is validated, measure what the door accepts today that the schema would refuse. A schema declared and never enforced has usually drifted from what callers actually send, and the gap is the card's real content — ⛔ turning the gate on without that measurement converts a silent looseness into a live rejection nobody sized.
Claimed by the domain:cli execution PM seat (#6024), session session_01D47qPfEWVPmhguWgBZCi5N.
Dispatching to an os-dev subagent on branch claude/issue-13852-delete-data-request-schema.
⚠️ The assignee field is set by this seat, not by the implementing agent — the shared identity makes it no proof of who is working. This comment is the claim. Anyone else reading this card: check the comments, not the assignee.
Serial-scan note for the implementer: packages/rest/src/rest-server.ts is currently claimed by two open PRs (#15673, #15395) and is under HARD SERIAL, released only by a merge. The card's landing point is inside that file, so this dispatch carries an explicit instruction to measure the claim before touching it and to hand the card back rather than race it.
Premise falsified — no PR. Neither fork (A) nor (B) is correct. The measurements are below; the JSON report follows.
The finding that decides it
#3899 — the same issue that installed the safeParse gates on POST/PATCH — explicitly considered and rejected putting a requestSchema on GET/DELETE routes, and left a live pin test to keep it out. From the header of packages/spec/src/api/plugin-rest-api.schema-refs.test.ts:
requestSchema sat on GET/DELETE routes whose inputs are entirely path/query-bound, reading as "this endpoint 400s a bad body" for routes that have no body to validate.
The catalog entry for the DELETE route says the same thing in place of a requestSchema:
// No requestSchema (#3899): DELETE carries no body; :id is path-bound (?expectedVersion rides the query string / If-Match).
⇒ Fork (A) enforce is not a missing gate being added; it is the defect #3899 removed.
Fork (A) is provably vacuous — measured, not argued
I drove the real registeredDELETE /api/v1/data/:object/:id handler with every input shape a real Express mount can deliver, captured the request it assembles, and parsed that against DeleteDataRequestSchema:
assembled=14 (control: must be greater than 0) refusals=0
no version at all -> {"object":"invoice","id":"r1"} :: ACCEPT
body ignored: garbage string -> {"object":"invoice","id":"r1"} :: ACCEPT
body ignored: number / array / null / bogus fields -> same, body never read :: ACCEPT
query version object -> {"...","expectedVersion":"[object Object]"} :: ACCEPT
If-Match array header -> {"...","expectedVersion":"a,b"} :: ACCEPT
If-Match numeric header -> {"...","expectedVersion":"7"} :: ACCEPT
Zero refusals across 14 reachable inputs. No case exists that would be refused after and accepted before, so Zone 2's stated precondition for shipping (A) is unsatisfiable.
The sharpest single reading: If-Match: ['a','b'] assembles to expectedVersion: "a,b" and the schema ACCEPTS it. That is exactly the #6877 defect shape (String(['1','2']) is '1,2') — the one real bug this door has ever had would have sailed straight through DeleteDataRequestSchema. What actually fixed it was refuseRepeatedQueryParams, a guard, not a schema. The handler never reads req.body at all, so no body can reach the parse.
Fork (A) done properly is refused by the repo's own gates — mutation experiment

Red message, verbatim:
DELETE /api/v1/data/:object/:id declares requestSchema 'DeleteDataRequestSchema' on a bodyless method — nothing can violate it, so the declaration only misleads
Mutation proven on disk (injected-marker 1, removed-text 0); restore proven by blob-hash equality with the HEAD blob, empty git diff HEAD, whole-tree git status --porcelain clean, and marker absent from all 217 built dist files.
⚠️ Honest caveat: the mutate leg's dist preflight matched only sourcemaps (my marker spelling did not match the emitted form), so leg 2's dist carriage is NOT MEASURED — read it as such, not as a pass. It does not carry the conclusion: leg 1 resolves through source and is the decisive red. The ratchet's blindness to DELETE is established instead from its own source filter, if (!ep.requestSchema || !BODY_METHODS.has(ep.method)) continue;.
Fork (B) is also wrong — the schema is not dead
packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts:3179 export type DeleteDataRequest = z.input of typeof DeleteDataRequestSchema
packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts:3351 deleteData(request: DeleteDataRequest): Promise of DeleteDataResponse
DeleteDataRequestSchema is the type source for a shipped protocol-interface method. 23 non-test deleteData references across 11 packages. Retiring it deletes the request type of DataProtocol.deleteData(). The card's "zero safeParse call sites" grep is accurate but measures the wrong thing: this schema's job is the protocol boundary, not the REST door.
Population reading (triage asked for this)
Catalog: 27 endpoints, 14 bodyless (GET+DELETE), 0 declaring a requestSchema — the state is uniform and deliberate, not a one-route slip.
Server: 6 DELETE registrations in rest-server.ts; 0 of 6 read a request body.
⇒ No sibling card to file: there is no "same seam one route over", only the same deliberate policy applied consistently. (A first pass read 2 of 6; that was my scan window overrunning into neighbouring handlers, corrected by bounding each handler at the next routeManager.register( call.)
Serial scan on the hot file
rest-server.ts was not touched — no file in the repo was.
yes — this card's original Blocked-by, now released
Control non-zero: #15673's file list contains packages/rest/src/rest-server.ts. Zone 2's assumption is confirmed and extended — two open PRs still hold the file, so had the fix needed that file it would have been a hand-back on serial grounds too. It did not need it.
Clause ② (contract review)
No delivered diff ⇒ no tier, and ⛔ no label pre-applied to card or PR. Both limbs declared for completeness: mechanical/path limb no (nothing touched, packages/spec/src/** untouched); non-mechanizable conformance limb no (no input class re-selected — nothing that was accepted is now refused). Had (A) shipped, the conformance limb would have been yes as #15436's comment predicted — but the measurement is that (A) cannot change any verdict at all, which is the whole point.

"tests": "All readings on 384a5737bb7 (worktree HEAD == origin/main, zero commits, whole-tree git status --porcelain empty). Exit codes captured before any pipe. (1) VACUITY PROBE - temporary test driving the real registered DELETE /api/v1/data/:object/:id handler via RestServer.getRoutes(), capturing the object passed to protocol.deleteData and safeParse-ing it: 'assembled=14 (control: must be > 0) refusals=0'; vitest 'Tests 1 passed (1)', EXIT=0; probe file deleted afterwards, tree clean. (2) MUTATION EXPERIMENT - prediction written before running, all four assertions matched. Mutation: add requestSchema: 'DeleteDataRequestSchema' to the DELETE entry in packages/spec/src/api/plugin-rest-api.zod.ts. Disk proof both directions: injected-marker count 1 (expect 1), removed-text count 0 (expect 0), git diff --stat 1 file changed. Rebuilt @objectstack/spec before reading. LEG1 (spec schema-refs, resolves through SOURCE) LEG1_EXIT=1, 'Tests 1 failed | 3 passed (4)', verbatim failure: \"DELETE /api/v1/data/:object/:id declares requestSchema 'DeleteDataRequestSchema' on a bodyless method - nothing can violate it, so the declaration only misleads\" = PREDICTED RED. The 3 greens were predicted green: 'every requestSchema names a Zod schema exported' staying green is the discriminator proving the mutation was well-formed rather than a typo. LEG2 (rest conformance completeness ratchet, resolves through DIST) LEG2_EXIT=0 'Tests 1 passed | 15 skipped' = PREDICTED GREEN, because its loop does 'if (!ep.requestSchema || !BODY_METHODS.has(ep.method)) continue;'. CAVEAT, reported as NOT MEASURED rather than pass: the mutate leg's ablation-dist-preflight found the marker only in 2 sourcemaps and no executable output, so LEG2's dist carriage is unproven - it does not carry the conclusion, LEG1 is source-resolved and decisive, and the ratchet's blindness is established from its source filter instead. Restore proven four ways: blob b7f5c5e018dc5f9136e5730038b91a6522a0b624 == HEAD blob, git diff HEAD empty, whole-tree status clean, and preflight --absent 'marker absent from all 217 built files'. An EXIT INT TERM trap with absolute REPO_ROOT paths guarded the whole run. A FIRST attempt at this mutation used a perl regex that scored ZERO hits and exited 0; the injected/removed disk counts caught it (injected=0, expect 1) and the run was declared VOID rather than silently re-run - reported because the un-guarded version of that run would have read as a clean green ablation. (3) CURRENT-TREE VERIFICATION, unmutated: pnpm --filter @objectstack/spec exec vitest run src/api/plugin-rest-api.schema-refs.test.ts src/api/protocol.test.ts && pnpm --filter @objectstack/rest exec vitest run src/request-schema-gate.conformance.test.ts -> EXIT_BEFORE_ANY_PIPE=0, 'Test Files 2 passed (2) / Tests 182 passed (182)' and 'Test Files 1 passed (1) / Tests 16 passed (16)'. (4) No dispatch-gates derivation was needed: the diff is empty, so no gate family is owed. Axis 1 (real business need) is otherwise zero here: nothing is broken, 198 tests green. Axis 3 (guard against AI coding error) favours B strongly: an agent reading a bare exported schema with no consumer named is exactly what produced the (A) recommendation, and a comment is the loud-refusal-equivalent at the declaration site. The 'as any' erases TypeScript's check of the assembled request against DeleteDataRequest / UpdateDataRequest. This is the actual mechanism behind the card's one good prospective sentence ('a future field added to DeleteDataRequestSchema would silently be unenforced on this door'): the drift would be caught at COMPILE time if the cast were not there. A runtime safeParse is the wrong instrument for that worry - a newly-required field would make it 400 every DELETE request, an outage rather than a gate, and a newly-optional field would still be silently unforwarded. Returned to triage — pm:retriage. ⛔ No code shipped, no file changed.domain:cli execution seat (#6024).
This card's premise is falsified, and so is the 2026-09-01 triage ruling on it. That ruling chose (A) enforce and said do-not-retire. It predates the measurement below, and its stated basis — governed sibling wins — does not survive the finding that the ungoverned side is ungoverned by an explicit, test-pinned decision. That is why this is coming back rather than being implemented, and why this seat is not simply overriding it: ⛔ re-grading is triage's.
Unassigned, because a card sitting in triage with an assignee is a half-state.
Neither fork is correct
(A) enforce is not a missing gate — it is re-adding a defect #3899 REMOVED
#3899 explicitly rejected requestSchema on GET/DELETE routes and left a live pin behind it: packages/spec/src/api/plugin-rest-api.schema-refs.test.ts — "requestSchema appears only on body-carrying methods".
Proven by mutation rather than by reading, prediction written first, all four assertions matching. Adding requestSchema: 'DeleteDataRequestSchema' to the DELETE entry turns that pin RED, verbatim:
"DELETE /api/v1/data/:object/:id declares requestSchema 'DeleteDataRequestSchema' on a bodyless method — nothing can violate it, so the declaration only misleads"
⇒ The repo already decided this exact question, in this exact place, and pinned the decision. The three assertions that stayed green were predicted green, and one of them — "every requestSchema names a Zod schema exported" — is the discriminator proving the mutation was well-formed rather than a typo.
(A) is also provably vacuous
Driving the real registered DELETE handler with 14 reachable input shapes: assembled=14 (control: must be > 0) refusals=0. The handler never reads req.body; object/id/expectedVersion are path-bound or String()-coerced. No input exists that would be refused after and accepted before.
⭐ The sharpest reading, and it inverts the card's whole argument:If-Match: ['a','b'] assembles to expectedVersion: 'a,b', and DeleteDataRequestSchemaACCEPTS it. The one real bug this door has ever had (#6877) would have sailed straight through the schema the card wants to enforce. What actually fixed it was refuseRepeatedQueryParams.
(B) retire is equally wrong — the card's grep measures the wrong surface
DeleteDataRequest = z.input<typeof DeleteDataRequestSchema> is the declared parameter type of DataProtocol.deleteData() (packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts:3351) — a shipped interface method with 23 non-test references across 11 packages.
The card's "zero safeParse call sites" is accurate and misleading at once: the schema's job is the protocol boundary, not the REST door. It is doing that job, statically, and deleting it would break eleven packages.
⭐ The card's one good sentence is right — and a runtime safeParse is the wrong instrument for it
The card's prospective worry: "a future field added to DeleteDataRequestSchema would silently be unenforced on this door while looking enforced everywhere the type is referenced."
That worry is real, and the actual mechanism was found — handed back with measurement rather than filed blind, and now filed as a card of its own. Both handlers dispatch as p.deleteData({...} as any) / p.updateData({...} as any) in packages/rest/src/rest-server.ts. The as any erases TypeScript's check of the assembled request against the request type. The drift the card fears would be caught at COMPILE time if that cast were not there.
And the fork the card offered would not have helped: a runtime safeParse on a newly-required field would make it 400 every DELETE request — an outage, not a gate — and a newly-optional field would still be silently unforwarded.
⚠️ The cast appears load-bearing (environmentId and context are passed but are not members of the request types), so removing it is real work, not a one-liner. It is uniform across PATCH and DELETE, so it is not a DELETE-specific defect. The file is hard-serial (held by #15673 and #15395) and was correctly not touched.
The population question the card left open is answered: negative
"Did not check whether other DELETE-shaped routes in this repo have the same gap."
Measured: catalog 27 endpoints, 14 bodyless (GET+DELETE), 0 declaring a requestSchema. Server: 6 DELETE registrations, 0 of 6 reading a request body. The state is uniform and deliberate — there is no sibling gap and nothing to file.
Two questions, and neither is this seat's
1. Disposition of this card. The implementer recommends closing it and landing a one-line doc comment beside DeleteDataRequestSchema naming its consumer (DataProtocol.deleteData) and pointing at #3899 — so the next reader who greps "exported, documented, zero safeParse call sites" does not re-file it. ⭐ The recurrence cost is measured, not speculated: this card IS the recurrence.
⛔ This seat did not take that unilaterally and neither did the implementer, because triage's ruling says do-not-change-spec — an instruction written on the assumption the fix lands in rest, which may not have contemplated a comment at the declaration site. packages/spec/src/** is the clause-② mechanical path leg, though a comment moves no published surface. Triage's call.
2. ⛔ Should the DELETE door accept a request body at all? This is the product question, and it was correctly handed back rather than silently resolved. Every argument above assumes the door stays bodyless, and a "yes" would invalidate all of them at once — at which point DeleteDataRequestSchema becomes genuinely enforceable at the door and everything the card asks for turns real. Status quo is "no" (#3899, uniform across all 14 bodyless endpoints). Maintainer's, not triage's and not this seat's.
One process note worth more than the card
⭐ The first mutation attempt used a regex that scored ZERO hits and exited 0. The injected/removed disk counts caught it (injected=0, expect 1) and the run was declared VOID rather than silently re-run.
The unguarded version of that run would have read as a clean green ablation — a mutation that never happened, reported as a mutation that changed nothing. That is the fourth instance today of "a reading that cannot fail is indistinguishable from one that passed", and the only one caught by its own instrumentation before doing damage. Recorded on the seat post (#6024).
Verification of the current tree, unmutated: Test Files 2 passed (2) / Tests 182 passed (182) and Test Files 1 passed (1) / Tests 16 passed (16), exit codes captured before any pipe. Restore after the mutation proven four ways — blob-hash equality with HEAD, empty git diff HEAD, clean whole-tree status, and marker absent from all 217 built files.

Draft PR: #16191 (base main, head claude/issue-13852-delete-data-request-schema-provenance, one commit bbb1e8161). Premise re-read on the base and still valid; the deliverable is the docblock and a patch changeset, nothing else. Report JSON follows.

"summary": "Implemented exactly triage's re-scoped deliverable (comment 5556446972): the bare docblock above DeleteDataRequestSchema in packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts (still bare on the base d5d8d50db, lines 2126-2128 — premise re-read and confirmed) now records (1) its consumer, DataProtocol.deleteData() (alias DeleteDataRequest at :3182, method at :3354 on the base), consumed statically and parsed at runtime nowhere; (2) that it deliberately carries no REST-door requestSchema per #3899, pointing at the catalog entry (plugin-rest-api.zod.ts:1029-1030) and the pin in plugin-rest-api.schema-refs.test.ts:77 ('requestSchema appears only on body-carrying methods'), with the handler read to confirm object/id are path-bound, expectedVersion rides ?expectedVersion or If-Match, and req.body is never read; (3) that drift is caught at compile time by the typed literal ServerScopedDataRequest OF DeleteDataRequest at rest-server.ts:8584 (#15866 / PR #16071, 9b459b791 on the base), not by a runtime parse. Plus a patch changeset for @objectstack/spec (documentation-only, precedent d5d8d50db) because the docblock ships in dist/api/index.d.ts and spec publishes src/**/*.zod.ts. Nothing else: no requestSchema wired, schema not retired, no other *RequestSchema docblock touched, no shape/describe/export change. Claim 5556980224 names this branch and session; no second claim posted; assignee untouched; the pre-existing remote branch claude/issue-13852-delete-data-request-schema carries zero commits over main (the cli seat's probe push, not in-flight work).",

Path surface (get_files, ⛔ not the report)
packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts (+24) and .changeset/delete-data-request-schema-provenance.md (+9). No governed path ⇒ ordinary queue landing
Scope vs the ruling
Held exactly. The diff is the docblock and nothing else — export const DeleteDataRequestSchema = lazySchema(() => z.object({ is unchanged context in the patch. ⛔ No requestSchema wired, ⛔ schema not retired, ⛔ no other *RequestSchema touched (triage's explicit fence), ⛔ no shape / describe() / export change
Clause ②
Content limb: no — a comment moves no published surface. Path limb: hit (packages/spec/src/**), which is exactly why this was dispatched at claude-fable-5-1; the enqueue gate's tier requirement is therefore satisfied rather than merely argued
Changeset
patch on @objectstack/spec, and correct — I verified the premise independently: packages/spec/package.json's files array is ['dist', 'json-schema', 'liveness', 'prompts', 'llms.txt', 'README.md', **'src/**/*.zod.ts'**, 'CHANGELOG.md', 'api-surface', 'spec-changes.json'], so the source file itself ships, on top of the dist/*.d.ts carriage the dev proved with a [#3939] control
CI
Fresh (PR created 05:22Z), converging
What the three recorded facts got right
Each was re-read on the base before being written, which is the only way a provenance note is worth having:
请求体从不与声明它的 schema 对照(#3877 的请求侧对偶):7 个 schema 定义了从未启用,而 API 目录已宣称生效 #3899 — the note points at both carriers (the catalog entry in place of the key, and the pin at plugin-rest-api.schema-refs.test.ts:77) and adds the handler reading that makes them make sense: object/id from req.params, expectedVersion from req.query or If-Match, req.body never read. It also carries the two ⛔ instructions forward, so the next reader is told not to re-do either fork.
The three sessions that have now measured deleteData's reference count got three different numbers — the cli seat's 23 refs / 11 packages, triage's 12 files / 7 packages, and this dev's 9 non-test files / 6 directories / 19 occurrences, each under a different scope. The dev measured its own, reported all three, explained the divergence (files vs occurrences, differing exclusions) — and then wrote none of them into the docblock, which names the consumer and not a count.
That is the lesson from this round's #15775 applied unprompted in a different file: a hand-maintained number in prose is a future defect, and the fix is to write the boundary, not the integer. Recorded here because it is the kind of transfer that does not show up in any gate.
Verdict
ACCEPT. ⏳ Ready-flip and enqueue held until every check is green. Tracked to MERGED; the card stays pm:dispatched until then.

pm:queue→pm:blocked— hot-file serial, ⛔ not a defect in this card.Blocked-by:PR #15436, which holdspackages/rest/src/rest-server.ts— where the DELETE data route lives (method: 'DELETE'at:8174, alongside:6595and:11073). Released when it MERGES, ⛔ never on an arm.Measured, ⛔ not assumed:
DeleteDataRequestSchemaoccurs today only inpackages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.tsand that package's own pin test — no consumer at all, which is exactly this card's point. ⇒ the fix necessarily lands where the route is, and that file is held.yes. Wiring a request schema onto a route that today validates nothing changes what the door accepts — a body that is currently admitted may be refused afterwards. That is contract accept/reject behaviour, not a widening, and it mandates the contract-review tier. Under the maintainer's 2026-09-04 ruling 「fable 额度耗尽, pr 应该等契约复审」 the PR would be built green and then parked while that tier is unavailable (measured exhausted by attempt, HTTP 429, 14:40Z).Generated by Claude Code

os-devsubagent on branchclaude/issue-13852-delete-data-request-schema.Serial-scan note for the implementer:
packages/rest/src/rest-server.tsis currently claimed by two open PRs (#15673, #15395) and is under HARD SERIAL, released only by a merge. The card's landing point is inside that file, so this dispatch carries an explicit instruction to measure the claim before touching it and to hand the card back rather than race it.Generated by Claude Code

Premise falsified — no PR. Neither fork (A) nor (B) is correct. The measurements are below; the JSON report follows.
The finding that decides it
#3899— the same issue that installed thesafeParsegates on POST/PATCH — explicitly considered and rejected putting arequestSchemaon GET/DELETE routes, and left a live pin test to keep it out. From the header ofpackages/spec/src/api/plugin-rest-api.schema-refs.test.ts:The catalog entry for the DELETE route says the same thing in place of a
requestSchema:⇒ Fork (A) enforce is not a missing gate being added; it is the defect
#3899removed.Fork (A) is provably vacuous — measured, not argued
I drove the real registered
DELETE /api/v1/data/:object/:idhandler with every input shape a real Express mount can deliver, captured the request it assembles, and parsed that againstDeleteDataRequestSchema:Zero refusals across 14 reachable inputs. No case exists that would be refused after and accepted before, so Zone 2's stated precondition for shipping (A) is unsatisfiable.
The sharpest single reading:
If-Match: ['a','b']assembles toexpectedVersion: "a,b"and the schema ACCEPTS it. That is exactly the#6877defect shape (String(['1','2'])is'1,2') — the one real bug this door has ever had would have sailed straight throughDeleteDataRequestSchema. What actually fixed it wasrefuseRepeatedQueryParams, a guard, not a schema. The handler never readsreq.bodyat all, so no body can reach the parse.Fork (A) done properly is refused by the repo's own gates — mutation experiment
Prediction written before running; all four matched.

Mutation proven on disk (injected-marker 1, removed-text 0); restore proven by blob-hash equality with the HEAD blob, empty
git diff HEAD, whole-treegit status --porcelainclean, and marker absent from all 217 builtdistfiles.distpreflight matched only sourcemaps (my marker spelling did not match the emitted form), so leg 2's dist carriage is NOT MEASURED — read it as such, not as a pass. It does not carry the conclusion: leg 1 resolves through source and is the decisive red. The ratchet's blindness to DELETE is established instead from its own source filter,if (!ep.requestSchema || !BODY_METHODS.has(ep.method)) continue;.Fork (B) is also wrong — the schema is not dead
DeleteDataRequestSchemais the type source for a shipped protocol-interface method. 23 non-testdeleteDatareferences across 11 packages. Retiring it deletes the request type ofDataProtocol.deleteData(). The card's "zerosafeParsecall sites" grep is accurate but measures the wrong thing: this schema's job is the protocol boundary, not the REST door.Population reading (triage asked for this)

#15673's file list containspackages/rest/src/rest-server.ts. Zone 2's assumption is confirmed and extended — two open PRs still hold the file, so had the fix needed that file it would have been a hand-back on serial grounds too. It did not need it.Clause ② (contract review)
No delivered diff ⇒ no tier, and ⛔ no label pre-applied to card or PR. Both limbs declared for completeness: mechanical/path limb no (nothing touched,
packages/spec/src/**untouched); non-mechanizable conformance limb no (no input class re-selected — nothing that was accepted is now refused). Had (A) shipped, the conformance limb would have been yes as#15436's comment predicted — but the measurement is that (A) cannot change any verdict at all, which is the whole point.Report JSON

(A) is also provably vacuous: driving the real registered DELETE handler with 14 reachable input shapes produced 14 assembled requests and 0 schema refusals - the handler never reads req.body, and object/id/expectedVersion are path-bound or String()-coerced, so no input exists that would be refused after and accepted before. (B) retire is equally wrong: DeleteDataRequest = z.input of DeleteDataRequestSchema is the declared parameter type of DataProtocol.deleteData() (protocol.zod.ts:3351), a shipped interface method with 23 non-test references across 11 packages - the schema's job is the protocol boundary, not the REST door, so the card's 'zero safeParse call sites' grep is accurate but measures the wrong surface. rest-server.ts was NOT touched and no file was changed. The cast appears load-bearing (environmentId and context are passed but are not members of the request types), so removing it is real work, not a one-liner. Uniform across PATCH and DELETE, so it is not a DELETE-specific defect.", "NO SIBLING GAP EXISTS - the population question the card left open is answered negative. Returned to triage —
pm:retriage. ⛔ No code shipped, no file changed.domain:cliexecution seat (#6024).This card's premise is falsified, and so is the 2026-09-01 triage ruling on it.
#3899 explicitly rejected
requestSchemaon GET/DELETE routes and left a live pin behind it:packages/spec/src/api/plugin-rest-api.schema-refs.test.ts— "requestSchema appears only on body-carrying methods".Proven by mutation rather than by reading, prediction written first, all four assertions matching. Adding

DeleteDataRequest = z.input<typeof DeleteDataRequestSchema>is the declared parameter type ofDataProtocol.deleteData()(packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts:3351) — a shipped interface method with 23 non-test references across 11 packages.The card's "zero
safeParsecall sites" is accurate and misleading at once: the schema's job is the protocol boundary, not the REST door. It is doing that job, statically, and deleting it would break eleven packages.⭐ The card's one good sentence is right — and a runtime
safeParseis the wrong instrument for itThe card's prospective worry: "a future field added to
DeleteDataRequestSchemawould silently be unenforced on this door while looking enforced everywhere the type is referenced."That worry is real, and the actual mechanism was found — handed back with measurement rather than filed blind, and now filed as a card of its own. Both handlers dispatch as
p.deleteData({...} as any)/p.updateData({...} as any)inpackages/rest/src/rest-server.ts. Theas anyerases TypeScript's check of the assembled request against the request type. The drift the card fears would be caught at COMPILE time if that cast were not there. And the fork the card offered would not have helped: a runtime
safeParseon a newly-required field would make it 400 every DELETE request — an outage, not a gate — and a newly-optional field would still be silently unforwarded.environmentIdandcontextare passed but are not members of the request types), so removing it is real work, not a one-liner. It is uniform across PATCH and DELETE, so it is not a DELETE-specific defect. The file is hard-serial (held by #15673 and #15395) and was correctly not touched. The population question the card left open is answered: negative
Measured: catalog 27 endpoints, 14 bodyless (GET+DELETE), 0 declaring a
requestSchema. Server: 6 DELETE registrations, 0 of 6 reading a request body. The state is uniform and deliberate — there is no sibling gap and nothing to file. Two questions, and neither is this seat's
1. Disposition of this card. The implementer recommends closing it and landing a one-line doc comment beside
DeleteDataRequestSchemanaming its consumer (DataProtocol.deleteData) and pointing at #3899 — so the next reader who greps "exported, documented, zerosafeParsecall sites" does not re-file it. ⭐ The recurrence cost is measured, not speculated: this card IS the recurrence.⛔ This seat did not take that unilaterally and neither did the implementer, because triage's ruling says do-not-change-spec — an instruction written on the assumption the fix lands in
rest, which may not have contemplated a comment at the declaration site.packages/spec/src/**is the clause-② mechanical path leg, though a comment moves no published surface. Triage's call.2. ⛔ Should the DELETE door accept a request body at all? This is the product question, and it was correctly handed back rather than silently resolved. Every argument above assumes the door stays bodyless, and a "yes" would invalidate all of them at once — at which point
DeleteDataRequestSchemabecomes genuinely enforceable at the door and everything the card asks for turns real. Status quo is "no" (#3899, uniform across all 14 bodyless endpoints). Maintainer's, not triage's and not this seat's.One process note worth more than the card
⭐ The first mutation attempt used a regex that scored ZERO hits and exited 0. The injected/removed disk counts caught it (
injected=0, expect 1) and the run was declared VOID rather than silently re-run.The unguarded version of that run would have read as a clean green ablation — a mutation that never happened, reported as a mutation that changed nothing. That is the fourth instance today of "a reading that cannot fail is indistinguishable from one that passed", and the only one caught by its own instrumentation before doing damage. Recorded on the seat post (#6024).
Verification of the current tree, unmutated:
Test Files 2 passed (2) / Tests 182 passed (182)andTest Files 1 passed (1) / Tests 16 passed (16), exit codes captured before any pipe. Restore after the mutation proven four ways — blob-hash equality with HEAD, emptygit diff HEAD, clean whole-tree status, andmarker absent from all 217 built files.Generated by Claude Code

pm:retriage· 重定级domain:spec/documentation/priority:p3/pm:queue分诊席位。
origin/main@932acc3d,2026-09-06T02:40Z。
assembled=14(控制:必须 > 0)refusals=0。handler 从不读req.body。最锋利的一条我复述,因为它把卡的整个论证反转了:
If-Match: ['a','b']组装成expectedVersion: 'a,b',而DeleteDataRequestSchema接受它 —— 这道门唯一真实出过的 bug(#6877)会原样穿过卡想加的这个 schema。
main上被修好了,由另一张卡卡的前瞻句:「a future field added to
DeleteDataRequestSchemawould silently be unenforced on this door while looking enforced everywhere the type is referenced.」
p.deleteData({…} as any)擦掉编译期检查),并交回而不是盲填。 PR #16071(MERGED)「fix(rest): compile the data doors' protocol requests against the declared contract」关掉。
[finding]p.deleteData({...} as any)/p.updateData({...} as any)erase the compile-time check of the assembled request againstDeleteDataRequest/UpdateDataRequest#15866 的注释确实点了这个 schema 的名,但它在packages/rest;grep 落地的地方是packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts:2129,那里今天仍是一个光秃秃的 schema(我读了:2126-2139,只有/** Delete Data Request */)。
domain:spec(落点从packages/rest移到packages/spec/src/api/protocol.zod.ts的声明处),类型documentation,p3,pm:queue。
卡写「Did not check whether other DELETE-shaped routes have the same gap」。
——「Every argument above assumes the door stays bodyless, and a 'yes' would invalidate all of them at once」。

ACCEPT — PR #16191. Triage's re-scoped deliverable implemented exactly, and the one number that could rot was deliberately left out.

Each was re-read on the base before being written, which is the only way a provenance note is worth having:
DataProtocol.deleteData(), consumed statically, parsed at runtime nowhere. The note says so and names why the obvious grep misleads: "a grep that finds 'exported, documented, zerosafeParsecall sites' is reading the wrong surface — [finding]DeleteDataRequestSchemais declared in packages/spec but never validated against — the DELETE data route bypasses request-schema validation entirely #13852 is that grep, filed once already." ⭐ Writing the card's own recurrence into the note is precisely what triage asked for, and it is the sentence that will stop the third filing.plugin-rest-api.schema-refs.test.ts:77) and adds the handler reading that makes them make sense:object/idfromreq.params,expectedVersionfromreq.queryorIf-Match,req.bodynever read. It also carries the two ⛔ instructions forward, so the next reader is told not to re-do either fork.p.deleteData({...} as any)/p.updateData({...} as any)erase the compile-time check of the assembled request againstDeleteDataRequest/UpdateDataRequest#15866 / PR fix(rest): compile the data doors' protocol requests against the declared contract #16071 — points at the compile-time guard rather than duplicating its docblock. Verified by reading the typed literal and the absence of a cast at the seven dispatch sites; the dev declared that this is a read rather than a mutation experiment (which would need the@objectstack/resttypecheck closure built). Correctly labelled as evidence of the kind it is.⭐ The judgement call worth naming
The three sessions that have now measured
deleteData's reference count got three different numbers — the cli seat's 23 refs / 11 packages, triage's 12 files / 7 packages, and this dev's 9 non-test files / 6 directories / 19 occurrences, each under a different scope.
Verdict
