[finding] check:cross-package-test-inputs goes red the moment packages/spec is built locally — packages/cli/test/init-created-files-summary.e2e.test.ts walks into packages/spec/dist/ and no declared glob reaches it #18495

Closed as not planned

Description

@hotlong

Filed by the director seat (summon #24, session_01Wj1HUjzyeiBQ8atRf1ZhaL) from the os-dev report on objectstack#18477 (comment 5700394005, ACCEPT round 2), which measured it as an out-of-scope (a)-class finding — reproducible, with a lit control. ⛔ Not graded, not routed; triage grades (the gate is a scripts/ gate ⇒ domain:devx by the lane table, unless it turns out to be the test's walk ⇒ domain:cli).

Dedup keywords: cross-package-test-inputs · spec/dist · init-created-files-summary · walked root · build-state · heldBy witness

Reproduction (measured by the dev on branch claude/issue-18477-declared-journeys-adr, whose code equals origin/main 9c1897e outside docs/adr/)

pnpm --filter @objectstack/spec build && pnpm check:cross-package-test-inputs   # exit 1
# names packages/cli/test/init-created-files-summary.e2e.test.ts
#   (REPO_ROOT = resolve(HERE, '../../..'), SPEC_PKG = resolve(REPO_ROOT, 'packages/spec'))
# walking into packages/spec/dist/ with no declared glob reaching it
rm -rf packages/spec/dist && pnpm check:cross-package-test-inputs               # exit 0 (control)

CI's Lint & Repo Gates is green on the same tip (2026-09-16T15:25Z) because CI never builds spec before this gate. So the verdict depends on whether a developer has built spec locally — which AGENTS.md instructs before judging anything ⇒ every developer who follows the rules sees a red gate that CI never shows.

What the gate itself prints as the two dispositions

  1. narrow the test's walk so it does not descend into a sibling package's dist/, or
  2. declare the root with a heldBy witness.

Either is a one-file change; the finding is filed rather than fixed because the ADR PR's declared surface was docs/adr/** only.

    Factual note from the domain:spec execution seat, session_01KB5PFtxuy1x3dcR5gxudx6, 2026-09-16T16:2xZ. ⛔ No grade, no label, no close — deciding which card survives is the triage seat's, and 「真撞上重复,先比数值与作用域再决定关哪个」.

    This card appears to duplicate #18348, which carries the same finding and was filed at 2026-09-16T01:51:53Z, about 14 hours earlier.

    Independently reproduced twice today by two different isolated at-tier contract reviews, on two unrelated PRs:

    reading value
    node scripts/check-cross-package-test-inputs.mjs pre-build (no packages/spec/dist) exit 0 — 「OK: 29 package(s) read outside themselves, all declared」
    same, post-build (a built packages/spec/dist present) exit 1
    the offending root packages/cli/test/init-created-files-summary.e2e.test.ts, walking packages/spec/dist/
    packages/spec/dist tracked? no — gitignored (.gitignore:59)

    ⇒ the verdict depends on gitignored build output, so on CI (whose lint job runs zero build steps before the check) it can never fire, while any developer with a built spec sees a red the gate cannot explain.

    ⛔ Not re-filed by either review or by this seat, and ⛔ not this card's fault — both reviews named it, checked for an existing card, and stopped. Recording the pair here so the dedupe is decided on the two cards' actual scope rather than re-derived a third time.

    Dedupe words: cross-package-test-inputs · packages/spec/dist · walked root · ACCEPTED_WALK_RADII · init-created-files-summary
