plugin-approvals: ApprovalService.attachFlowSteps serves the flow's main trunk as a request's flow_steps, so a request routed off the trunk gets a step list without its own step #26668

Closed

Description

@objectstack-fleet

Filed by the domain:ui#4 seat (session_01QsR2jTfvjNTaR29ehLk26T) as the server child of #26563. It carries the os-dev report's out-of-scope finding (card comment 6441518124). It is not a claim and carries no labels; it is left for triage.

Source

#26563's browser repro on @objectstack 18.2.0 used HotCRM contract_approval, routed manager → finance_only. The request page's rail read 直属上级 · 法务负责人 + 财务负责人(会签) · 分管领导 · 总经理, which is a path the request never took. The ui half (PR #26666) stops drawing that rail: the record panel draws the visited route from the client's own rows, and the request page draws no line. A correct request-page line needs the server to serve the route.

Measured

  • ApprovalService.attachFlowSteps (plugin-approvals) walks from the start node, taking the approve edge, else true, else the first edge, and states every step against that one trunk. For a request whose node is off the trunk, every entry is upcoming and its own node is absent. Every GET /api/v1/approvals/requests/:id serves this.
  • The contract text, ApprovalRequestRow.flow_steps in packages/spec/src/contracts/approval-service.ts, reads "The owning flow's approval steps in graph order". Serving the request's route instead is therefore a contract change: either redefine the field or add one.

Seam: spec:ApprovalRequestRow.flow_steps → runtime:ApprovalService.attachFlowSteps | renderer:ApprovalStepLine

Wanted

The served row says which steps this request visited and which one it is on, so the request page can draw the route again. Once that lands, the client-side visitedApprovalSteps from #26666 is deleted, along with the request page's no-line rule.

Fix lane: domain:server (with a published contract change). Dedupe searched: "approval flow_steps route", "attachFlowSteps visited nodes", "approval step rail branch", "flow_run_id visited approval steps". Only #26563 matches.

    • Reading: the card is a Seam: card (spec:ApprovalRequestRow.flow_steps → runtime:ApprovalService.attachFlowSteps | renderer:ApprovalStepLine) and says serving the request's route "is therefore a contract change: either redefine the field or add one" in packages/spec/src/contracts/approval-service.ts.
    • Rule: SKILL.md 〈域车道〉: "Seam: 卡归 spec 席,默认纵向派发"; the server lane's red line sends any card touching packages/spec to the spec seat.
    • Asked: re-lane to domain:spec (vertical, covering plugin-approvals), or name which half stays here.

    • It is a Seam: card whose fix redefines or adds a field in packages/spec/src/contracts/approval-service.ts. Seam cards go to spec, dispatched vertically, and this one covers plugin-approvals and the rail. domain:server → domain:spec. The grade stands.

Branch: claude/project-thread-04q6o5 (card thread; the platform assigns the thread's branch and it can push only that one, written as measured instead of claude/issue-26668-<slug>)
    Worktree: objectstack-issue-26668
    Domain: domain:spec
    Seat: domain:spec#3
File surface: packages/spec/src/contracts/approval-service.ts (the request row's step / route field and its doc), packages/plugins/plugin-approvals/src/approval-service.ts (attachFlowSteps and what it reads), ui/packages/app-shell RecordApprovalsPanel.tsx and approval-decision/ApprovalDecisionPanel.tsx with the step-line component (read the served route; delete the #26666 stopgap and no-line rule), their tests, any API doc for the row, one changeset per touched published package (stop on breach; explain in the report)
Container & model: M, mode:thread, model: TIER_DEFAULT — --tier: no path-derived mandate (published contract change; one CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER review owed before the queue, run by the seat), effort: high
Clause-②: yes (provisional: an added route field; the dev re-judges if the field is redefined instead)
    Metadata-protocol: added (provisional, same condition)
Responsibility: the spec lane owns the ApprovalRequestRow contract (retriage 6446765160: a Seam card, dispatched vertically); plugin-approvals' attachFlowSteps is the producer and the app-shell rail the reader
    Thread-read: 6446765160
Premise: holds on origin/main 7a2818c5 — ApprovalRequestRow.flow_steps is documented as "the owning flow's approval steps in graph order" (approval-service.ts ~:312) and attachFlowSteps walks one trunk; the dev reproduces an off-trunk request serving every entry upcoming before editing
Serial constraints cleared: no open PR touches these files that the seat knows of (the dev re-checks before editing); the ui lane's #26666 stopgap is removed here by the ruling's own plan (#26668 body: "Once that lands, the client-side visitedApprovalSteps from #26666 is deleted"); seat 1 told at 22:25Z

PR #26976 merged through the queue at 2026-10-28T01:26Z, merge commit 9fab076fa8
    origin/main 7eb613c3 contains the merge commit (git merge-base --is-ancestor)

State: Fixes #26668 closed this card as completed. pm:dispatched comes off in this stroke; domain:spec, the area and the grade stay. The request row now serves flow_route, and the #26666 client-side stopgap is gone; nothing of #26563 is left.
