The defect
ListView's $select projection drops the declared columns the principal cannot read. When that leaves no column, it returns undefined, and the request is sent with no $select key. That asks for every field, the denied ones included. An emptied column list is read as "no restriction", which is the widening objectui#7215 measured and fixed on $expand.
