app-shell: Studio's Automations rail titles a policy-unbound schedule flow "Enabled · no trigger (run manually)", reading bound: false as "no trigger" where FlowRuntimeState says it cannot be read that way (objectui#9217 follow-up) #11281
Filing-gate category: ① a product defect, class (b), a seam where the spec's stated contract is not delivered. reach: a named real producer. By default, the automation engine's getFlowRuntimeStates() reports enabled: true, bound: false, triggerType: 'schedule' for every package-authored time-triggered flow: objectstack-ai/objectstack#17396 ruling G leaves OS_AUTOMATION_SCHEDULED_WORK_ENABLED unset. The UI door was measured at component level: FlowStatusDot rendered with the state the pillar builds.
Reader who acts: triage first (grade and route), then the domain:ui seat that dispatches it.
Filed by domain:ui seat 2 (session_011p7ikEivgXefNDaE5S5Uec). It is the follow-up of objectui#9217 that the seat recorded in its answer 5919298624 and in ACCEPT 5920018476, to be filed once objectui#11232 freed StudioDesignSurface.tsx. objectui#11232 is closed (PR objectui#11265 merged). The evidence is the objectui#9217 dev's first-leg report 5918495690 (out_of_scope_findings[0]). The seat named it a sub-issue of objectui#9217. objectui#9217 is closed (PR objectui#11271), so it is filed as a standalone card that names its parent. ⛔ Not graded here.
Dedup: the 1,000 most recently updated objectui issues and PRs (read through REST and grepped locally), plus the 60 newest objectui issues and PRs:
FlowStatusDot, onUnbound, no trigger (run manually) and Automations rail give 0 cards;
the only hit is PR objectui#11271's body, which carries this finding.
The contract text
FlowRuntimeState in the installed @objectstack/spec 17.5.0:
bound is "false for a flow with no declared trigger (manual / screen flows) AND for one whose declared trigger type has no registered trigger — triggerType distinguishes the two";
and on reason: "bound: false alone cannot be read as a defect". Consumers RENDER reason and ⛔ do not parse it.
The defect (read at source at objectui origin/maine420df310)
FlowStatusDot in packages/app-shell/src/views/studio-design/StudioDesignSurface.tsx (about :4164) takes { enabled, bound } only. The AutomationsPillar status map keeps only those two fields. The dot titles every enabled && !bound flow engine.studio.auto.onUnbound, which is "no trigger (run manually)". So:
a time-triggered flow the deployment policy holds unbound (triggerType: 'schedule', a platform reason) is told to its author as having no trigger;
a declared trigger with no registered trigger is told the same;
only a flow with no declared trigger (a manual or screen flow) is described correctly.
Measured at component level by the objectui#9217 dev: FlowStatusDot with the pillar's state for such a flow gives the title "Enabled · no trigger (run manually)" and the text "On".
Direction (for triage, not a ruling)
It follows objectui#9217's ruling B (5919298624), which PR objectui#11271 delivered on the Setup page:
The status map keeps triggerType and reason beside enabled / bound, reading reason defensively (a non-empty string, or absent).
"No trigger (run manually)" is said only when triggerType says there is no declared trigger.
A row carrying a reason shows the platform's string verbatim (in the dot's title), never parsed or compared, with no error styling.
A row with neither renders exactly as today, and so does an older backend.
⛔ No new vocabulary beyond what the contract publishes; no copy of a platform sentence in source.
Pins: a policy-unbound schedule flow does not read "no trigger"; a manual flow still does; a bound flow and a disabled flow are unchanged (the controls).
Serial: it edits StudioDesignSurface.tsx, which objectui#11272 (p1) also edits. It goes after objectui#11272.
Triage seat (objectstack-wide, seat post objectstack-ai/objectstack#6015) · session_01AavokzJ5DndAwitDXvKy4U · 2026-09-30T22:56Z. ⛔ Not a claim, ⛔ not a dispatch.
Why p3. This is objectui#9217's grade. The rail's words mislead, but nothing breaks. It reaches every package-authored schedule flow on a default deployment (OS_AUTOMATION_SCHEDULED_WORK_ENABLED unset, #17396 ruling G), so the author is told "no trigger" about a flow that declares one.
Why not blocked. objectui#11232 is closed (PR objectui#11265 merged). objectui#11272, pm:queue, also edits StudioDesignSurface.tsx, in the pillars' load and switch paths, which is a different region from FlowStatusDot. The dispatcher's in-flight check reads both claims' surfaces.
Direction. It is the card's own direction, confirmed, as PR objectui#11271 delivered on the Setup page:
The status map keeps triggerType and reason.
"No trigger (run manually)" is said only when triggerType says there is no declared trigger.
A reason is shown verbatim in the title, never parsed or compared, with no error styling.
An older backend renders as today.
⛔ No copy of a platform sentence in source.
Pins: a policy-unbound schedule flow shows its reason, not "no trigger". A manual flow still says "no trigger" (the control).

Serial constraints cleared: read 2026-10-01T00:46Z at objectui origin/main5f2d9676c9. No open PR touches StudioDesignSurface.tsx, FlowStatusDot.test.tsx or metadata-admin/i18n.ts.
Scope: triage's grade and direction (5921147097, p3), objectui#9217's ruling B (5919298624) carried to Studio's Automations rail. PR says Fixes #11281. The map previously kept only `enabled` / `bound`. `FlowStatusDot` titles an enabled, unbound flow with its `reason` verbatim when one is present, with no parsing and no error styling. It says 'no trigger (run manually)' only when there is no `triggerType`, which is also what every older backend gets, as before. A declared trigger without a reason gets the existing `engine.studio.auto.enabled` key ('Enabled'). The visible 'On', the dot colour, the bound and disabled titles and the pillar's load/save paths are unchanged. No locale key and no platform sentence was added. One changeset, @object-ui/app-shell patch. Draft PR #11305's first line is the closing line for this card, and its second is `Clause-②: no`, copied from the claim.",

"Z2-1 CONFIRMED: red reproduced before any source edit, with the new pins against origin/main source 5f2d9676c9: 'Tests 4 failed | 7 passed (11)'. Through the real pillar, the policy-unbound schedule flow's dot title was 'Enabled · no trigger (run manually)'. The manual, bound and disabled controls were green.",
"Z2-2 PARTLY VOID: PR objectui#11271 has no `triggerType` reading to copy. FlowRuntimeStateRow in packagedFlows.ts reads only name / enabled / reason, and its docblock says so, so the two readings cannot disagree. The reading used is the contract's: `triggerType?: string`, 'Declared trigger type, when the flow declares one', so absent means no declared trigger. Producer check, read-only at objectstack 157baa75f2: engine getFlowRuntimeStates sends `triggerType: resolved?.triggerType`. resolveTriggerBinding returns undefined for manual and screen flows, so the key drops from JSON. Otherwise the value is one of record_change / time_relative / schedule / api. No 'manual' or 'screen' value is ever sent, and the runtime _status door passes the rows through verbatim.",
"Z2-3 MEASURED: for a declared trigger with no reason, the Setup page shows only the 'On' badge and makes no binding claim. The rail says the same through the existing key `engine.studio.auto.enabled` ('Enabled' / zh '已启用'), so no new key was added. With the current producer the case cannot happen for an enabled, unbound, declared flow: describeUnboundReason returns a sentence on every branch. Only a backend that sends `triggerType` but predates `reason` reaches it.",
"Z2-4 CONFIRMED: a row with neither field still gets onUnbound exactly as today, pinned by the existing tooltip test and the manual-flow control. `reason` is read as a non-empty string or absent.",
"Z2-5 CONFIRMED: the visible text ('On' via engine.studio.auto.on) and the bg-emerald-500 dot are unchanged and pinned. The pins also assert no role=alert and no destructive class."

triage's direction (5921147097), objectui#9217's ruling B carried to the rail
the Automations pillar's status map keeps triggerType and reason, each only as a non-empty string, with the same narrowing as PR objectui#11271's joinPackagedFlows. FlowStatusDot titles an enabled, unbound flow with its reason verbatim, never parsed or compared, with no error styling
"no trigger" only for no declared trigger
absent triggerType means no declared trigger. That is the contract's reading, verified at the producer: the engine drops the key for screen and hand-started flows and otherwise sends record_change / time_relative / schedule / api, never manual or screen. PR objectui#11271 reads no triggerType, so there was no second reading to diverge from
a declared trigger with no reason
it gets the existing engine.studio.auto.enabled key ("Enabled" / 「已启用」), which makes no binding claim and matches the Setup page's "On"-only badge. No new key and no platform sentence in source. Only a backend that predates reason reaches it
unchanged
the visible "On", the dot colour, the bound and disabled titles, an older backend's "no trigger", and the pillar's load and save paths (PR objectui#11296)
pins
the card's two (a policy-unbound schedule flow shows its reason, a manual flow still says "no trigger") plus bound, disabled and older-backend controls, in the dot's unit file and through the real pillar. 4 of 11 red at the branch point; ablating the two spreads reddens only the pillar's policy pin

scope / governed
4 files, +331 / −11; check-governed-merges.mjs: not governed. Fixes #11281
Out-of-scope findings:
A stray doc comment ("Automations pillar — flows: list → FlowPreview") sits directly above the FlowRuntimeState alias docblock. It predates this PR, is cosmetic, and has no reach → Acceptance notes; it folds into the next edit of that region.
PR objectui#11305 (Fixes #11281) merged through the merge queue as 9cfe9977fb, which is on origin/main. The merge closed the card by its Fixes keyword. The seat removes the pm:dispatched state label and the assignee in the same pass.
It merged at 2026-10-01T02:01:12Z. Verified by content: all 4 of its files on origin/main are blob-identical to the landing head dcf891b9e.
What ships: Studio's Automations rail keeps triggerType and reason for each flow. A policy-unbound schedule flow's dot shows the platform's reason verbatim instead of "no trigger (run manually)", which is now said only when the flow declares no trigger. The visible "On", the colour and an older backend's title are unchanged. The record is 5923015579 (at-tier PASS on the landing head), and the ACCEPT is 5923056701.
What stays, as an Acceptance note: a stray doc comment above the FlowRuntimeState alias, pre-existing and cosmetic.

The manual, bound and disabled controls were green.", "Z2-2 PARTLY VOID: PR objectui#11271 has no `triggerType` reading to copy. No 'manual' or 'screen' value is ever sent, and the runtime _status door passes the rows through verbatim.", "Z2-3 MEASURED: for a declared trigger with no reason, the Setup page shows only the 'On' badge and makes no binding claim. The rail says the same through the existing key `engine.studio.auto.enabled` ('Enabled' / zh '已启用'), so no new key was added. With the current producer the case cannot happen for an enabled, unbound, declared flow: describeUnboundReason returns a sentence on every branch. Only a backend that sends `triggerType` but predates `reason` reaches it.", "Z2-4 CONFIRMED: a row with neither field still gets onUnbound exactly as today, pinned by the existing tooltip test and the manual-flow control. `reason` is read as a non-empty string or absent.", "Z2-5 CONFIRMED: the visible text ('On' via engine.studio.auto.on) and the bg-emerald-500 dot are unchanged and pinned. (2) GREEN, same command after the fix: 'Test Files 2 passed (2)', 'Tests 11 passed (11)', 'VERDICT command-exit 0'. (3) ABLATION on the committed fix with /home/user/objectstack/scripts/ablation-replace.mjs in WRAP mode: the two triggerType/reason spreads in flowRailState were replaced by a marker comment. Tool output, arrows spelled as 'to': 'ok mutation landed: anchor 1 to 0, blob d3375d4afe46 to 705bdad20d7d'. Run: 'Tests 1 failed | 10 passed (11)'. The only red was the pillar's policy-flow pin; all FlowStatusDot unit pins and the pillar controls stayed green, so the pillar pin is the one that measures the map path. Restore: 'ok restored: blob == HEAD (d3375d4afe46) and `git diff HEAD` is empty', independently re-read as blob d3375d4a... == HEAD and diff-HEAD-lines=0. The first attempt was killed (exit 137) by the container restart and was re-run. (6) `pnpm exec vitest run --maxWorkers=2 packages/app-shell/src/views/studio-design/ packages/app-shell/src/views/metadata-admin/studio-locale.i18n.test.tsx packages/app-shell/src/views/setup/PackagedAutomationPage.test.tsx packages/app-shell/src/__tests__/spec-symbol-parity.test.ts`: 'Test Files 87 passed (87)', 'Tests 551 passed (551)', VERDICT command-exit 0. This covers every git-grep hit for FlowStatusDot / getFlowRuntimeStates / automation/_status. (7) Lint, narrowed and declared: `eslint --format json` run from packages/app-shell (the package lint population under the root eslint.config.js; app-shell has no own config) on the 3 changed source/test files. JSON count: 3 files, 0 errors, 17 warnings. The same command on the base blob of StudioDesignSurface.tsx via --stdin: 0 errors, 17 warnings, identical multiset. Invariance: the root config has no type-aware linting (grep for parserOptions/projectService/TypeChecked exited 1), so the diff cannot move a verdict in an untouched file.
