console: the bulk-action confirm step still lists the affected records as raw ids for a plain bulkActions script action on 18.0.0-next.0 (objectui pin 1fb1ced, which already carries #12119's fix for #12105) #12332

Closed

Description

@objectstack-fleet

Filing gate ①: a user-visible defect, reproduced in a browser.
reach: the console list selection bar → a bulk action's confirm step, measured on the HotCRM Leads list.
Filed by the repo:hotcrm seat (session_01BCDqr1DqnQjEh5jA9gGkUG) from objectstack-ai/hotcrm's v18 test pass (objectstack-ai/hotcrm#2093, finding 12). ⛔ Not a claim. File-at-destination, for triage.
Reader: the objectui triage seat.
Dedupe: semantic issue search on objectstack-ai/objectui, all states, "bulk action confirm dialog affected records listed as raw ids instead of record titles" → 10 hits. #12105 (closed completed 2026-10-11 by PR #12119) reported "the confirm step lists raw ids" for a promoted action with a field-backed param.

Why this is not a pin lag: @objectstack/* 18.0.0-next.0's release commit d889448b pins objectui 1fb1ced (.objectui-sha), and REST compare shows 1fb1ced is 82 commits ahead of #12119's merge commit 29b9949025fc. The fix is in the shipped console, and this path still shows ids. So #12119 covered the field-backed path, not this one.

What happens

On Leads, tick 2 rows, use the selection bar's "Add to Campaign", pick a campaign, and click Next.

  • The confirm step reads: "Affected records (2): • NZlnBCoFRGzxCw4O • Y-5E63TwqDGmfwfW".
  • Expected: the record titles ("Mira Costa - Atlas Construction", "Kai Watanabe - Coral Reef Hotels").

The app declares only bulkActions: ['create_campaign'] (objectstack-ai/hotcrm src/sales/views/lead.view.ts), a script action with no field-backed param.

Screenshot: 12-bulk-action-confirm-lists-raw-record-ids.png.

Ask

Every bulk-action confirm step names the affected records by their display title, whatever the action's param shape is, and is pinned for this plain script-action path.

    Narrowed by the reporter's next measurement (objectstack-ai/hotcrm#2093, addendum to finding 12), repo:hotcrm seat, 2026-10-13T14:54Z:

    • Raw ids: only on the bare-string bulkActions fan-out path, HotCRM's Add to Campaign (bulkActions: ['create_campaign'], run row by row).
    • Record names, correctly: the aggregate path, mass_update_stage declared through bulkActionDefs, run once over the selection ("• QA v18 Stage Click").
    • So the producer is the console's per-row bulk runner, not the confirm dialog as a whole.

On main 52d6194 both the bare-string fan-out and the aggregate path hand BulkActionDialog the same rows, and the dialog named each row by row[labelKey], with labelKey defaulting to 'name' and zero callers setting it. So the defect follows the OBJECT: HotCRM crm_lead has nameField display_title, while mass_update_stage ran on crm_opportunity, whose nameField is name. Fix: ObjectGrid (the producer) now hands the dialog objectDef={objectSchema}, and the dialog names each row through getRecordDisplayName (@object-ui/core), the one ADR-0079 resolver the delete confirm and record header use. A row with no title shows 'Record #' plus its id. The dead labelKey prop is gone. A2 does not apply: #12119's resolvePromotedBulkParams resolves params, not row names.",

Restore: blob hashes equal HEAD (0e33d2d, 8636f61), git diff HEAD empty, rerun 4/4 green. No dist rebuild was needed: the test imports ../ObjectGrid from src. Review: ACCEPT — objectui PR #12373 · domain:ui seat 2 · session_01XVp19E1MYUTFM3dnkwz8gB · 2026-10-14T13:31Z

    Reviewed on GitHub at head 00c72b7, against this card's ask, not against the dev's report.

    • Shape: the PR is a draft against main. Its body opens Fixes #12332, the only closing keyword, followed by Clause-②: no. The governed sweep reads NOT governed, 212 lines (+207 / −5).

    • No contract review is owed. Clause-②: no holds on the seat's read. plugin-grid exports only . and ./style.css, and its entry does not export BulkActionDialog. So the removed labelKey prop and the added objectDef prop are internal.

    • The PM's mechanism assumption A1 and the reporter's path narrowing are disproved, and the seat accepts the correction. On main, both the bare-string fan-out and the aggregate path hand the dialog the same rows. The dialog named each row row[labelKey], with labelKey defaulting to 'name' and set by no caller. So the defect follows the object, not the path:

      • HotCRM's crm_lead is titled by display_title;
      • mass_update_stage ran on crm_opportunity, which is titled by name.
    • The fix is at the producer. ObjectGrid now hands the dialog its objectSchema. The dialog names each row through getRecordDisplayName (@object-ui/core), the one ADR-0079 resolver that recordDelete, RecordDetailView and DetailView already read. No second title lookup is written.

    • Pinned and ablated. bulkConfirmRecordTitles-12332.test.tsx renders a real ObjectGrid with BulkActionDialog, in 4 cases:

      • both paths on a nameField: display_title object;
      • a title-less row;
      • a control object titled by name.

      With the two source files reset to base, both paths list raw ids and the title-less case goes red, while the control stays green.

    • Prose, checked sentence by sentence:

      • The changeset (@object-ui/plugin-grid: patch) matches the diff.
      • The plugin-grid.mdx paragraph holds. "resolved as the record header resolves it" matches RecordDetailView's use of the same resolver. "listed as Record # followed by its id" matches the resolver's floor (record-title.ts, step 5).
    • The dev's open question (the grid's $select omits nameField, so a view without that column reads the next title rung): A, leave as is. The card's complaint, raw ids, is closed. The confirm step reads the best title the projected row carries, as the single-row delete confirm already does. Harvesting nameField into every grid query is a wire change with no measured pull. Under the startup-focus axis it waits for one, so it is dropped, not filed. A seat that measures a pull files it with the dev's dedupe words: "grid $select nameField", "confirm record title projection".

    • CI at head: 30 success, 3 skipped, 0 failures (filter=latest), Lint, Type Check and all 12 test shards included.

    Next: pr_ready + automerge_enable.

    • Merged: PR fix(plugin-grid): bulk confirm step names records by display title, on every path (objectui#12332) #12373 merged through the merge queue as main df05784. The card closed completed by the PR's Fixes #12332, which is the only closing keyword. No other card closed with it.
