Console: OS_CLOUD_URL=off renders the marketplace as a red load-failure with wrong guidance, and the home page still promotes the marketplace entry #5504
Origin: moved from objectstack-ai/cloud#1506 (EE 4.1.0 published-image acceptance) — the misleading prose and the page/home behavior live in this repo, so the card lives here (file-at-destination); the source card is closed as moved.
Symptom (measured, EE template defaults)
apps/objectos-ee/deploy/.env.example ships OS_CLOUD_URL=off as the factory default ("no marketplace, and no license validation either"). A Console booted on those defaults:
The home page still puts the marketplace front and center — "从模板开始 · 从应用市场安装模板应用并按需定制" and "浏览应用市场";
Clicking through lands on a red error card: "应用市场加载失败 / Not found", whose hint claims "本运行时默认指向公共 ObjectStack 云端。请检查运行时是否在线,或通过 OS_CLOUD_URL 指向自托管控制面。"
Both hint claims are wrong for this deployment: the runtime is NOT on the default (the operator explicitly set off), and suggesting OS_CLOUD_URL sends the customer back to a template that told them to set off in the first place. "Marketplace disabled by configuration" is a configuration conclusion, not a load failure.
The hint string is failedHint in packages/i18n/src/locales/zh.ts:3080 (and siblings in other locales).
Asks
Treat off (and none/local/disabled) as a first-class disabled state: the marketplace page shows an informational "disabled by OS_CLOUD_URL=off" state, not a red error;
The home-page marketplace entries hide or grey out with the same explanation in that state — today they recommend first and error after;
The "defaults to the public cloud" sentence should only render when OS_CLOUD_URL is genuinely unset.
Note for the executing seat
If runtime-config does not currently expose the cloud/marketplace-disabled state to the Console, file the upstream contract card in objectstack and fix producer-side — don't infer the state consumer-side from the failure shape.
