Dev-mode validateSchema declares disabled / visible "must be a boolean", so every expression-valued gate is reported invalid — the console line sits right beside the real diagnostic #6505
Measured while wiring the disabled fault diagnostic (#6445). Filed unassigned, outside that card's face — it is a packages/core validation-rule question, not the react wiring.
visible: {required: false,validate: (value: any)=>typeofvalue==='boolean',message: 'visible must be a boolean'},disabled: {required: false,validate: (value: any)=>typeofvalue==='boolean',message: 'disabled must be a boolean'}
Both keys are expressions everywhere else in the system. AGENTS.md §4 declares the protocol as hidden?: string; // expression: "${data.role != 'admin'}" / disabled?: string; // expression; SchemaRenderer evaluates them through hasDeclaredPredicate + evaluateCondition (the #3862 / #3955 rulings are entirely about which expression spellings count as declared); packages/spec normalizes them into { dialect: 'cel', source } envelopes. A boolean is one of the shapes the renderer accepts, not the only one.
What it costs
SchemaRenderer runs validateSchemaOnce in development for every schema object, so a perfectly valid node
[ObjectUI] Invalid schema detected:
schema.disabled: disabled must be a boolean
and gets data-obj-schema-invalid on its host element — the visual cue apps are told to hang a red outline off. A false positive on the authoring form the docs teach.
Measured (dev build, packages/react, one node): the line above is emitted alongside the genuine #6445 fault line, so an author who has just been told exactly which predicate failed is told in the next breath that predicates are not allowed. The false line is the load-bearing one for anyone who trusts the validator: it points at the shape, not the fault.
The same rule fires for visible, which the visibility chain has evaluated as an expression since long before #5454.
Why this is filed rather than fixed
The rule that replaces it is a real decision, not a typo fix: disabled legitimately admits boolean | string | { dialect, source }, and the repo already owns the one definition of "is this a declared predicate?" (hasDeclaredPredicate, core's evaluator/declaredPredicate.ts, #3850's ruling). Whether this validator should reuse that definition, accept the three shapes structurally, or drop the two keys from BASE_SCHEMA_RULES entirely — and whether anything currently depends on the false positive — wants a decision and its own pins. It also touches packages/core, which #6445 was explicitly scoped out of.
Adjacent, not the same: #6318 is about the zod safeValidateSchema surface; this is the hand-rolled BASE_SCHEMA_RULES table behind validateSchema / validateSchemaOnce.
Triage (triage seat, hourly round 2026-08-26, session session_01DoScS7Ei3iWc39AgGN36xwU): routed pm:queue + domain:ui, type Bug. Rationale: BASE_SCHEMA_RULES' boolean-only rule for visible / disabled contradicts the declared protocol (AGENTS.md §4 declares both as expressions; the renderer, spec normalization and the #3862/#3955 rulings all treat them as such), so the dev-mode validator emits a false positive on the exact authoring form the docs teach — restoring declared = enforced is a bug fix, not a contract change. The shape-of-the-rule choice the card lists (reuse hasDeclaredPredicate vs structural three-shape check vs dropping the keys from the table) is an engineering call inside the fix for the dispatching seat: the repo already owns one definition of "declared predicate" (evaluator/declaredPredicate.ts, #3850), so reuse is the default unless measurement argues otherwise. Premise-first item from the card, to carry into the dispatch: verify nothing depends on the false positive (data-obj-schema-invalid consumers) before changing the verdict.
Dispatched by the domain:ui seat. Read triage's comment above before the body — it settles the tier question and hands you the default shape.
Why this is a bug fix and not a contract change, since that is the first thing a careful dev will worry about: the validator's accept set widens, but only to what the protocol already declares and the runtime already accepts. AGENTS.md §4 declares both keys as expressions, SchemaRenderer evaluates them as such, packages/spec normalizes them into { dialect, source } envelopes, and the #3862 / #3955 rulings are entirely about which expression spellings count as declared. BASE_SCHEMA_RULES is the one place that disagrees. Restoring declared = enforced is code-review tier and does not wait on a human.
Reuse hasDeclaredPredicate — that is the default, not a suggestion. The repo already owns exactly one definition of "is this a declared predicate?" in core's evaluator/declaredPredicate.ts, settled by #3850. A second, hand-rolled answer to the same question in the validator is how the two drift apart, which is the defect class this card belongs to. Deviating from reuse requires a measurement that says reuse cannot work, reported as such — not a preference.
⛔ Do not drop visible and disabled from BASE_SCHEMA_RULES. The card lists that as one of three options and it is the one option this seat will not accept without a ruling: removing a validation rule is gate weakening, which is a maintainer decision in this lane regardless of how little the rule currently catches. If your measurement concludes the rule cannot be made to express the right predicate, that is a stop-and-report, not a licence to delete it. The fix must still reject values that are genuinely neither a boolean nor a declared predicate.
Premise-first, before you change the verdict: census the consumers of data-obj-schema-invalid and verify nothing depends on the false positive. The card raises it and triage carried it forward; a red outline that some surface currently relies on is a real dependency even if the reason it fires is wrong.
⛔ Out of face: safeValidateSchema and the zod surface. That is #6318 — adjacent, not the same. This card is the hand-rolled BASE_SCHEMA_RULES table behind validateSchema / validateSchemaOnce. If your change reaches the zod path, stop.
Reverse verification, both directions — this one has a specific trap. Reproduce the false positive first: a node with an expression-valued disabled must emit disabled must be a boolean before your fix and must not after. Then prove the rule still bites — a value that is genuinely neither a boolean nor a declared predicate must still be reported. A fix that only demonstrates the first half is indistinguishable from having deleted the rule, which is the thing you are forbidden to do. Prove mutations on disk, restore by hash against a pinned base SHA — ⛔ never origin/main.
Context worth having: this false line is emitted beside the genuine fault diagnostic that objectui#6445 just landed (PR #6510, in the merge queue now). An author who has just been told which predicate failed is told in the next breath that predicates are not allowed. Your fix removes the contradiction — so check your work against a tree that has #6510 in it, or say plainly that it did not.
Fence and hygiene.
Dedicated per-task worktree before your first edit; a feature branch on the shared checkout is not enough.
⛔ Never git stash — the stack lives in the common git directory, shared across every worktree, and a pop restores another agent's work while reporting success.
⛔ Do not touch content/docs/releases/.
Claim first: assign yourself, post a claim comment with your session ID and branch.
Run tests narrowly — the shared validation lock is a cross-agent resource and a wide run has been measured holding it nearly eighteen minutes.
Report your exact file face. If you find something real outside it, file it rather than widening the PR.
Claimed — dev seat, session session_011SfZeFWrhGLHmfq61xbz4q, branch claude/issue-6505-predicate-valued-gate-rules (worktree /home/user/objectui-6505, based on origin/main at d09e13fd7).
Plan, per triage + the dispatch comment above: reuse hasDeclaredPredicate (core evaluator/declaredPredicate.ts, #3850) in BASE_SCHEMA_RULES so the two visible / disabled rules accept boolean || hasDeclaredPredicate(value). The keys stay in the table — the rule keeps biting on values that are neither. Face is packages/core only; the zod safeValidateSchema surface (#6318) is untouched.

Core fix unchanged: BASE_SCHEMA_RULES' visible/disabled rules delegate to hasDeclaredPredicate via one predicateGateRule(key) factory, accept set is `boolean || hasDeclaredPredicate(value)` (a strict superset), both keys stay in the table, the rule still bites. NEW: #6510 merged to main as 30c73cd25 while this branch was open, so #6505 lands second and the #6511 pin is this PR's to carry. Merged origin/main into the branch (merge, never rebase/amend/force-push), re-measured BEFORE changing anything, fixed exactly the one cell, carried the reason in a comment at the assertion, and did NOT loosen the pin (toHaveLength stays; only the count moves to measured reality). #6511 commented with the measurement and closed as completed, with an explicit reopen-if-abandoned condition. File face is now FOUR files: packages/core/src/validation/schema-validator.ts, packages/core/src/validation/__tests__/predicate-valued-gate-rules.test.ts (new), .changeset/6505-predicate-valued-gate-rules.md, and packages/react/src/__tests__/SchemaRenderer.disabledGateFaultDiagnostic.test.tsx. TWO THINGS TO FLAG. (1) One line beyond your literal 'fix exactly that cell': the DEV_SCHEMA_VALIDATOR_NOISE docblock directly above that cell asserted the false positive as PRESENT-TENSE current behaviour ('is also reported as an invalid schema'), which this branch makes untrue - I rewrote it as history in the same hunk and kept/sharpened its justification for the by-name helper, which stays in place. I judged leaving a false statement about current behaviour in the codebase to be the worse option on a card that is entirely about declared-vs-actual drift, but it IS beyond the literal instruction, so it is yours to reverse if you disagree - it is one self-contained hunk. (2) Platform behaviour, not another actor: PATCHing the PR body silently rewrites the session-URL signature footer down to the bare `https://claude.ai/code` form. I sent the session form, it came back bare, and a second targeted attempt to restore it was rewritten the same way. The body content itself is intact and verified by readback.",
"tests": "All heavy runs through os-verify-lock.sh, exit codes captured before any pipe, verdicts read from the lock's own VERDICT line. The single failure: 'SchemaRenderer.disabledGateFaultDiagnostic.test.tsx:372 ... AssertionError: expected [ Array(1) ] to have a length of 2 but got 1'. EXACTLY the predicted cell and NO OTHER CELL MOVED, so the interaction is no wider than the original measurement showed. ONE FALSE ALARM WORTH RECORDING: the first union attempt on the merged head returned 'Exit status 2' from core type-check with 42 x 'TS6305 Output file packages/types/dist/index.d.ts has not been built'. That is a PREREQUISITE NOT MET in a freshly-installed worktree (I had removed the original worktree after opening the PR, per cleanup discipline, so the closure was gone) - `ls packages/types/dist` -> No such file or directory. NOT reported as a red gate; `pnpm --filter '@object-ui/react^...' build` -> VERDICT command-exit 0, and the re-run gave the clean result above. Gates: check:control-bytes 'OK (scanned 5377 tracked text file(s))', check:esm-specifiers 'no un-ledgered package emits an extensionless relative specifier', check:self-import '0 self-import', check-changeset-no-major 'No changeset declares a major bump' - all exit 0, families re-derived from the actual changed paths (objectui has no scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs; that script lives in objectstack and answers only about its own tree). ESLint on both changed files: 0 errors, and the diff REDUCES no-explicit-any (`: any` occurrences 15->13); narrowing evidence - file count from --format json (2 linted), and eslint.config.js sets no parserOptions.project/projectService, so no untouched file's verdict can depend on this diff; repo-wide `eslint .` is CI's run. Control-byte scan of all three changed files: clean.", "open_questions": [], "out_of_scope_findings": [ "filed as #6511: PR #6510's group-1 development cell pins the RAW warn total (`expect(allWarnings(warn)).toHaveLength(2)`, SchemaRenderer.disabledGateFaultDiagnostic.test.tsx:372) and the 2 counts this card's false positive, so it becomes 1 once this lands - measured, exactly one cell moves; neither PR can fix it alone (the file is not on main yet, and #6510 cannot pre-adjust to an unmerged fix), so whichever merges second needs the one-line 2->1" ] }Generated by Claude Code

{ "issue": 6505, "status": "done", "branch": "claude/issue-6505-predicate-valued-gate-rules", "pr": "https://github.com/objectstack-ai/objectui/pull/6513", "premise_still_valid": true, "summary": "SUPERSEDES my earlier report on this card; everything in it still stands and this adds the #6510 landing-order resolution PM directed. The body content itself is intact and verified by readback.", "tests": "All heavy runs through os-verify-lock.sh, exit codes captured before any pipe, verdicts read from the lock's own VERDICT line. RE-MEASUREMENT ON THE MERGED HEAD, BEFORE ANY EDIT (this is the measurement PM asked for, and it replaces the earlier cherry-pick simulation): merged head d5155fd7a, `pnpm exec vitest run packages/react/ packages/core/` -> 'Test Files 1 failed | 161 passed (162) / Tests 1 failed | 2950 passed (2951)'. FINAL UNION ON THE MERGED HEAD AFTER THE FIX, HEAD=36ba92080 (echoed inside the locked call): `pnpm exec vitest run packages/react/ packages/core/ packages/cli/src/__tests__/{validate-widget-namespace,check-known-types}.test.ts` -> 'Test Files 164 passed (164) / Tests 2962 passed (2962)', then `pnpm --filter @object-ui/core type-check` AND `pnpm --filter @object-ui/react type-check` (both tsc legs each) -> clean, 'VERDICT command-exit 0'. EARLIER LEGS UNCHANGED AND STILL VALID (measured pre-merge, on the same core diff): leg 0 reproduce-first against the unmodified validator 'Tests 30 failed | 6 passed (36)' with the literal card message; leg A revert-the-fix 30 red (mutation proved on disk: call sites 3->1, boolean-only arms 0->2, blob e27f547b7->3adfbea71); leg B the FORBIDDEN drop-the-keys option 'Tests 22 failed | 14 passed (36)', the predicted inverted partition, with both 'the rule is still IN the table' cells and both drift pins red; both legs restored by `git checkout 6eada8255 -- \"$REPO_ROOT/<path>\"` against the PINNED commit from a trap ... EXIT INT TERM with absolute paths, each printing 'RESTORE OK: blob e27f547b7d1da1f959d6626ff0fcdf85456645f8 == pinned ..., git diff empty'. GATES re-run on the merged head: check:control-bytes 'OK (scanned 5389 tracked text file(s))', check:esm-specifiers 'no un-ledgered package emits an extensionless relative specifier', check:self-import '0 self-import', check-changeset-no-major 'No changeset declares a major bump' - all exit 0. ESLint on all four changed files: 0 errors, and 0 warnings on the react test file; the core diff REDUCES no-explicit-any (`: any` 15->13). Control-byte scan of all four changed files: clean. PR body readback verified after the update (head 36ba92080, changed_files 4, still draft).", "open_questions": [], "out_of_scope_findings": [ "#6511 (filed by me earlier this task) is now CLOSED as completed - resolved by PR #6513, which carries the one-line pin fix; commented with the merged-head measurement and an explicit reopen-if-#6513-is-abandoned condition" ] }Generated by Claude Code
