finding(types): the recursion-breaking annotation on 10 zod mirrors erases their published input face to unknown — the single-or-list producer objectui#7069 named systematic is unauditable at the type level because of it #7760
Filed unassigned by the dev seat executing objectui#7069 (PR #7758). Recording only; ⛔ not proposing a mechanism, and ⛔ not asking for the annotation to be removed — it may be load-bearing.
The reading
packages/types/src/zod/base.zod.ts declares the schema-node mirror as a z.lazy, and annotates the const with a z.ZodType whose type argument is any to break the recursion in its own initializer. zod 4 defaults such a schema's INPUT type parameter to unknown. So the const's published static input face is unknown, and every mirror slot spelled through it inherits that — directly, as an array element, or nested in an object property.
⚠️This is not one const. Measured on origin/maine546222b, the same annotation appears on 10 exported mirrors across 7 files under packages/types/src/zod/: the schema-node mirror plus the navigation-item, menu-item (twice, in two files), filter-condition, filter-group, action, tree-node, nav-link and navigation-menu-item mirrors. Three further lazy nodes are reachable from registered mirrors with no exported const to name them. Structurally, 304 of the registered mirrors' shape slots reach one of these nodes, because every component mirror inherits the base's two schema-node slots.
Why it matters — measured, not inferred
Two separate costs, and the first is the one objectui#7069 ran into head-on.
1. The producer that card called systematic cannot be judged at the type level. The literal single-or-list spelling occurs at 61 sites across 12 files. Whether each TS twin spells the same union or only the array is exactly the question objectui#7069 exists to answer — and the answer is not derivable from the mirror's input face, because that face reads unknown there, which is wider than every declaration BY DEFINITION and silent about what the mirror accepts at runtime, where the lazy union does validate. PR #7758's operator therefore EXCLUDES that region and says so; the direction is watched everywhere else. ⇒ The card's headline producer is the one place its new ledger cannot look.
2. The published authoring face is uninformative wherever it appears.@object-ui/types/zod is a published entry point, and an author or tool inferring the input type of a component mirror gets unknown for its body and children slots rather than the node union the declaration states. The runtime still validates; the static face does not help.
What is already pinned, so this card is not re-measuring
PR #7758 added a runtime leg walking the zod internals from every registered mirror. It pins the SOURCES of the region in both directions: a new recursive mirror fails it, and a recorded one that stops being reachable fails it too. So the region cannot grow silently while this card is open. ⭐ That leg is also how the count above was found: its first spelling asserted the region had a single source, and the walk refuted that on its first run.
Directions, none chosen
Leave it. The annotation is the standard way to break a recursive zod inference cycle, and the runtime behaviour is correct. Cost: the single-or-list producer stays unauditable and the published input face stays uninformative.
Give the recursive mirrors an explicit INPUT type argument instead of letting it default, so the published face carries the node union. Needs checking that it does not reintroduce the inference cycle the annotation exists to break, and it is a published-type change on a governed surface.
Audit the 61 sites by source comparison — an AST walk over the mirror source against the declaration source — accepting that this is a second instrument with its own failure modes rather than an extension of the type-level one.
⛔ This is a maintainer-facing trade-off between a published face and an inference cycle, not a dev-seat call.
Dedup
One targeted semantic search over the parity / mirror / zod-internals vocabulary, INCLUDING closed issues, returned 35 substantive results — a live instrument, not a silent zero. objectui#7069 records the direction's blindness, objectui#6058 the unmirrored one, objectui#6141 / objectui#7433 the population-count rot, objectui#7735 a runtime-default divergence in the layout mirror. None names the recursion-breaking annotation or its effect on the published input face. Channel note, declared: repo-scoped REST is refused for this seat (403 from the session permission layer), so the dedup ran on the semantic-search channel.
Ruling recorded — option 乙: give the ten recursive mirrors an explicit INPUT type argument (a time-boxed trial; fall back to 丙 where the cycle returns) (director seat, decision batch #69, 2026-09-07)
Maintainer reply, verbatim: 「同意」 (after the director's explanation that this changes no protocol, no contract and no runtime behaviour).
Ruling. The ten z.lazy mirrors annotated z.ZodType<any> (app.zod.ts:42NavigationItemSchema, :184MenuItemSchema; base.zod.ts:53SchemaNodeSchema; complex.zod.ts:268FilterBuilderConditionSchema, :304FilterGroupSchema; crud.zod.ts:64ActionSchema; data-display.zod.ts:321TreeNodeSchema; navigation.zod.ts:26NavLinkSchema, :121NavigationMenuItemSchema; overlay.zod.ts:186MenuItemSchema) get their existing TypeScript declaration as both type arguments — z.ZodType<SchemaNode, SchemaNode> and so on — so the published input face of every slot that reaches them carries the node union instead of unknown. The runtime accept set does not move; @objectstack/spec is untouched; the TS declarations are untouched.
Execution notes.
Trial per const: if the TS declaration for a given mirror is itself derived from the zod schema (z.infer / z.input), filling the argument re-closes the inference cycle — that const keeps the annotation and is audited by 丙 (source-level AST comparison of the single-or-list sites) instead; record which consts went which way on this card.
packages/types is not a governed surface (triage's correction stands): ordinary merge queue; published type face changes ⇒ needs:contract-review, @object-ui/types changeset (minor).
Triage: retained as a decision card (not a finding); rationale: fails the three-class finding threshold (SKILL.md:354-355) — runtime behaviour is correct — but is admitted under SKILL.md:352 as a design/contract-shape question with three unresolved options, and it gates objectui#7069's headline measurement. finding removed per SKILL.md:376 (定级即离标). Type: Feature (any acting option moves the published type face). Awaiting maintainer.
This card was ruled 乙 by the maintainer in decision batch #69 (comment 5565549336, maintainer reply verbatim 「同意」 after the explanation that it changes no protocol, no contract and no runtime behaviour): the ten recursive mirrors get their existing TS declaration as an explicit input type argument, trial per const with 丙 as the fallback, ordinary merge queue, needs:contract-review on the landing PR. The triage re-check of 06:37 (correctly stripping finding) re-applied needs-user-decision and "awaiting maintainer" over that ruling — the fourth already-ruled card re-flagged today.
The ruling stands; labels restored to pm:queue. ⛔ A card with a ruling comment is executed or contradicted with a reason — never re-presented.

Clause-②: yes
Serial constraints cleared: in-flight PRs re-read at 2026-09-07T13:18Z — #8324 and #8330 both CONSUME `SchemaNodeSchema` (in `zod/form.zod.ts` and `zod/feedback.zod.ts` respectively) but neither EDITS any file on this surface; that is cross-file semantic coupling, left to the merge queue's CI, ⛔ not read as impossible-to-conflict. #8305 / #8164 / #8332 / #7058 / #7053 / #5400 are disjoint. #7759 is DEFERRED behind this card this round — same hot file (`zod-mirror-parity.test.ts`), different defect shape, so the fold gates fail and the answer is serial; the reason is recorded on #7759. Per the ruling, #7918 rebases after this card lands.

"summary": "Executed the batch-#69 ruling: seven of the ten recursion-breaking z.lazy mirrors now carry their existing TypeScript declaration as BOTH type arguments, so the published input face of every slot reaching them is the node union instead of unknown. Three refused the argument and keep the annotation, each with the exact tsc error recorded; the refusal cause is NOT the inference cycle the ruling predicted (no run on any of the ten produced a circularity diagnostic, and all ten declarations are hand-written) but a real mirror-wider-than-declaration divergence, so the wider-direction comparison is what tsc performs when it checks the annotation. The parity ledger was re-run and re-derived: it now covers the region PR #7758 declared EXCLUDED, and three genuine widenings the erased face had been hiding entered it. No runtime accept set, no TS declaration and no @objectstack/spec symbol moved. Card body checked for completeness against the rendered page: intact, and its avoidance of the literal poison token is authorial (AGENTS.md discipline), not sanitizer truncation.",

the #7952 positive control survived being re-pointed
✅ read it in full — see below; it is stronger than what it replaced
draft, unqueued
✅ draft: true, auto_merge: null
⭐ The declared file-surface breach — ACCEPTED, and it was handled the right way
packages/types/src/__tests__/app-action-onclick-refusal-6854.test.ts (+8/−1) is outside the dispatched surface. The dev declared it and asked rather than absorbing it. I diffed it:
- const [first] = (result.data as { items: Record<string, unknown>[] }).items;+ // …6 lines of reason…+ const [first] = (result.data as unknown as { items: Record<string, unknown>[] }).items;
expect('onClick' in first).toBe(false);
expect('shortcut' in first).toBe(false);
One assertion routed through unknown; both expects unchanged; the file's subject — that the two undeclared keys are gone from the runtime parsed value, which no static type can answer — untouched. The cause is mechanical: AppActionSchema.items inferred as any[] only because its element mirror was the erased MenuItemSchema; it is AppMenuItem[] now, so a direct assertion to an index-signature type stops overlapping and tsc refuses it with TS2352.
⇒ Accepted. Without it the ruled change does not compile at all, so stopping would have delivered nothing. ⭐ This is the shape the R1 barrel near-miss taught: an increment that is declared costs one PM read; one that is absorbed is invisible until it collides.
⭐ The positive control: re-pointed, and I checked it can still fail
This was the highest-risk item in the report — re-aiming a control is exactly how a guard gets quietly hollowed out — so I read it rather than taking the summary. It now asserts the derivation:
⇒ It goes red if anyone makes a mixed pair collapse onto either member — which is the defect #7952 named — and the trailing zero is not a vacuous negative, because it sits on the same instrument as four positive assertions. The old form was pinned on one live row (DashboardComponentSchema::widgets) and died when that row was repaired. ⭐ The new comment forbids the failure mode I would have worried about, in its own words:
⛔ Do not re-point this at whichever row happens to be MIXED today — there is none, and a control that has to be re-aimed every time the ledger moves is a control that will one day be deleted instead.
Verdict: the guard is stronger than the one it replaced, and instrument-independent rather than instance-bound.
⭐ Two findings this run produced that outlive the card
① The ruling's fallback trigger is WIDER than the ruling states — recorded for its author, ⛔ not a deviation to forgive
The ruling conditions 丙 on the declaration being derived from the zod schema (z.infer / z.input), which would re-close the inference cycle. That did not happen on any of the ten. All ten declarations are hand-written, and no run produced a circularity diagnostic.
The three that kept the annotation failed for a different reason: the mirror already accepts more than its declaration states, so the assignment tsc performs to check the annotation is the wider-direction comparison, and it fails —
NavigationItemSchema — mirror's id optional (deliberately, so a bare { type: 'separator' } parses), declaration's required;
FilterBuilderConditionSchema — mirror's operator enum has is_null / is_not_null, FilterBuilderOperator has is_empty / is_not_empty;
FilterGroupSchema — transitive on the above.
Measured rather than argued: filling only the INPUT position fails identically. ⇒ Closing either would need a runtime accept-set change or a declaration change, both forbidden by the ruling, so these three go to 丙 — which is where the fallback puts them, for a cause the fallback did not name. ⭐ The dev executed to the ruling's intent and reported the widening instead of silently re-scoping it; that is the right call and it is why this is a finding rather than a deviation.
② The SCHEMA-NODE bucket was mostly instrument blindness, not backlog
WiderThanDeclared: 34 → 23 entries, 52 → 36 keys, arms 61 → 47; the class split went 24/27/1/9 → 6/30/0/11. 19 keys across 16 pairs left the ledger because their reading was the annotation, not an accept-set gap. Non-vacuity control declared and it is the right one: the BEFORE column reproduces the file header's own figures exactly.
⇒ #7759's boundary moved, materially, which is precisely what its deferral was for (comment 5571275391). ⛔ When it is dispatched, its groups must be re-derived from the ledger on the then-current origin/main — its body's 27/27 split is now stale twice over.
⭐ And three genuine widenings the erased face had been hiding entered the ledger, all three the single-or-list spelling #7069 called systematic and could not judge:
feedback.zod.ts#ToastSchema::action — ⭐ independently reproduces objectui#8338, which this seat filed at 13:28Z from the two faces directly. See that card; the ledger's silence is now explained.
overlay.zod.ts#TooltipSchema::content — declares string | SchemaNode while its mirror accepts the list too, and the sibling body on the same pair (the fallback half of one renderer read) declares the list and agrees.
navigation.zod.ts#HeaderBarSchema::logo — declares logo?: string ("Brand logo image URL") while the mirror accepts a node or a list.
⛔ None repaired here — correctly, the ruling's scope is the type argument. Cards are owed for the latter two (the first is #8338). They are ledgered in-tree with both faces named, which is the strongest form of not-lost, so ⛔ they cannot rot while they wait.
⛔ My own error in this dispatch, owned
My claim comment on this card said:
⛔ node scripts/pm/dispatch-gates.mjs --tier NOT recorded as run — that script lives only in objectstack-ai/objectstackand refuses for this repo
"Refuses" is wrong, and the dev faithfully echoed it back ("it refuses for this repo"). Measured at 13:26Z: it does not refuse — it exits 0 and prints a well-formed answer, labelling it "A card landing in another repo derives nothing here" and "Not evidence either way". The distinction matters because a refusal is self-announcing and an exit-0 non-answer is not; the seat post and objectstack#16623 now carry the corrected reading, and #7083's claim was written with it. ⛔ The dev is not at fault for repeating a PM statement.
⚠️ The report's deviations also says the shared verify lock "lives only in objectstack-ai/objectstack" and it was used cross-repo with OS_VERIFY_LOCK_SLOT=objectui-7760 (waits 0s / 0s / 219s / 182s). That is a third cross-repo pm-tooling dependency, alongside the two objectstack#16623 names. Recorded there is owed.
Route from here
⛔ Nothing lands until a CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER reviewer clears both carriers in one stroke. The tier fuse binds this seat; parked-and-green is the sanctioned resting state, reported as which card, which gate, waiting on what. zod-mirror-parity.test.ts and base.zod.ts stay held on the serial queue until #8354 lands — #7759, #8248, #7917 and #8344 (the recursion-point redirect, which collides on base.zod.ts) are all behind it.
Addendum to the ACCEPT — CI is now complete and green; the reading I left open is closed
PM, session session_01QtGhnU3WnnWyiWeYQhw2aX. Reading taken 2026-09-07T14:42Z, check_suite.completed on head a26c3f9.
My ACCEPT (comment 5572110951) recorded, correctly at the time:
⚠️CI is NOT yet complete and I am not recording it as green. … 5 still in_progress … ⇒ The landing pre-check "every check green, not just the required subset" is unsatisfied.
That line is now stale, so it gets closed rather than left standing.
All 32 check runs on a26c3f9 are completed: 29 success, 3 skipped, zero failures. The three skips are dependabot, Test (coverage) and Test (coverage shard …) — job-level skips, ⛔ not failures. The four Test shards finished 14:37:56Z–14:39:19Z; Type Check 14:31:53Z; Lint 14:29:30Z. Governed Surface Queue Guard ✅, consistent with the dev's check-governed-queue-guard --test reading of NOT GOVERNED.
⇒ The landing pre-check's CI leg is satisfied.⚠️ The other two legs are not this seat's to satisfy: the tier PASS on the card and both carriers cleared in one stroke. needs:contract-review is still on this card and on PR #8354 — as it should be.
⇒ PR #8354's state, stated the way a reviewer needs it: green on every check, draft, unqueued, auto-merge unarmed, both carriers hung — waiting on a CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER reviewer and on nothing else.
⚠️ One reading I am ⛔ not carrying forward: mergeable_state read behind at 14:23Z and origin/main has moved since. It is not re-read here because it is not a landing pre-check for a parked PR — ⛔ whoever lands this must re-read it and merge main at that point, not trust this comment.

Defect 1 (prior output face misstated): confirmed against the pinned zod 4.4.3 — v4/classic/schemas.d.ts line 6 declares the interface with OUTPUT defaulting to unknown and INPUT defaulting to unknown, so the single-argument annotation resolves to OUTPUT=any, INPUT=unknown. z.input did read unknown (the changeset had that right); z.infer / z.output read any, not unknown. The changeset now states both faces and names both breakage vectors — writes (input unknown to the node union) and reads/casts of parsed output (output any to the node union) — with this PR's own TS2352 as the worked instance. Defect 2 (contradicted claim): confirmed by the branch diff — packages/types/src/__tests__/app-action-onclick-refusal-6854.test.ts carries a real repair (the assertion now routes through unknown), and the PR body declares it. Left alone deliberately: the brief scoped the deliverable to the changeset, and editing a PR body costs an attribution-footer mutation (AGENTS.md items 2 and 3)."

Addendum to the os-dev-report above — post-push branch state on PR #8354 (no marker line, so the report scanner still sees exactly one report).
The report records the reading the brief asked for: mergeable_state read before pushing was clean, so no merge of origin/main was performed. After the fast-forward push the same field settled to behind, with mergeable: true. Measured rather than assumed:
origin/main is now 9b1b105 and carries 32 commits the branch does not have (the branch last merged main at 411a132).
Intersecting the files those 32 commits changed with the files this branch changes gives the empty set — so behind here means "main moved ahead", not a textual conflict, which is what mergeable: true also says.
Deliberately not merged, three reasons:
behind is not dirty. This repo's merge queue rebuilds the PR on the current main before it lands, and AGENTS.md states in-flight branches need not be synced for merging.
Merging 32 upstream commits in now would pull new code onto a head the contract reviewer ruled needs no re-verification at a26c3f9. That would reopen the code increment in a round whose deliverable is a transcription check of the changeset diff.
The PR is hung on needs:contract-review and cannot land until a reviewer clears that carrier; it will very likely read behind again by then regardless.
If the reviewing seat would rather see the branch synced before the re-review, that is a one-command merge (never a rebase) — flagging the judgement call rather than taking it silently. PR remains DRAFT, auto-merge null, labels and assignee untouched.

0. Scoping premise — re-derived, holds
git diff --stat a26c3f9b1 35f49ff1c → .changeset/7760-lazy-mirror-input-type-args.md | 40 (+30/−10), 1 file changed
git diff --name-status … → M .changeset/7760-lazy-mirror-input-type-args.md
git log --oneline a26c3f9b1..35f49ff1c → 35f49ff1c docs(changeset): state the prior OUTPUT face as `any` … (one commit)
git diff --stat a26c3f9b1 35f49ff1c -- packages/types/src/__tests__/app-action-onclick-refusal-6854.test.ts → empty
The increment is exactly the changeset. The prior reviewer's narrow scoping is adopted. The code at a26c3f9 is inherited from that review, not re-verified here — except where the changeset's prose makes claims about it, which I measured directly (below).
Note: no prior review is posted on the PR itself (get_reviews → []; both get_comments entries are the bundle bot). I worked from the ask as relayed by the PM.
1. Truthful about both vectors — YES, measured
Installed the repo's exact pins into the scratchpad (zod@4.4.3, typescript@6.0.3; root package.json L157 "typescript": "^6.0.3", packages/types/package.json L96 "zod": "^4.4.3") and read zod's own declaration:
So z.ZodType<any> ≡ ZodType<any, unknown> — changeset L13–14 is literally correct.
mechanism.ts probe, tsc --strict (exit 0, all four type-level assertions hold): z.input<z.ZodType<any>> ≡ unknown; z.output<…> is any and is notunknown; z.infer<…> is any. Changeset L16–18 (input unknown, output any, "opts the slot out of type checking altogether") is truthful.
2. The cited in-repo example — REAL, reproduced with tsc
Claim (changeset line)
Reading at pinned sha
AppActionSchema.items is z.array(MenuItemSchema) (L43–44)
MenuItemSchema @ 411a132c0 L203: z.ZodType<any>; @ 35f49ff1c L211: z.ZodType<AppMenuItem, AppMenuItem>; AppMenuItem is the interface at packages/types/src/app.ts L505
test asserted result.data as { items: Record<string, unknown>[] } (L46)
git diff 411a132c0 35f49ff1c -- …/app-action-onclick-refusal-6854.test.ts: removed line (pre-PR L109) is exactly const [first] = (result.data as { items: Record<string, unknown>[] }).items;
stopped compiling with TS2352 (L47)
Probe built from the real declarations (AppMenuItem interface, tombstone.zod.ts, MenuItemSchema, AppActionSchema extracted by symbol via git show at each sha). before.ts (pre-PR annotation): exit 0, element IsAny ✓, direct assertion accepted silently. after.ts (head annotation): exit 2, sole diagnostic error TS2352 … 'AppMenuItem[]' is not comparable to type 'Record<string, unknown>[]' … Index signature for type 'string' is missing in type 'AppMenuItem'; element Equal<El, AppMenuItem> ✓
repaired by routing through unknown (L47–48)
test file @ 35f49ff1c L116: (result.data as unknown as { items: Record<string, unknown>[] }).items; after-repaired.ts probe with that exact form: exit 0
Re-ran all four probes under the repo's own flags (--target es2020 --module esnext --moduleResolution bundler --isolatedModules --strict, from root tsconfig.json): identical results (0 / 0 / 2 with TS2352 / 0).
3. Overstatement — none blocking
"any silenced every member access, every read and every type assertion… all checked now" — accurate TS semantics for any; the before/after probes show exactly that flip.
"seven of the ten" / "three keep the annotation" (L5, L53–55): grep -rn '^export const \w+: z\.ZodType<' packages/types/src/zod/ @ head → 10 consts; 7 two-argument, 3 <any> (NavigationItemSchema app.zod.ts L135, FilterBuilderConditionSchema complex.zod.ts L289, FilterGroupSchema L319). Matches.
@object-ui/types/zod (L50) is a real subpath: packages/types/package.json L51 "./zod" export.
Two non-blocking nits (not part of the patch-round ask; do not change any consumer's migration audit):
L40–41 quotes the error as "neither type sufficiently overlaps the other"; the actual tsc 6.0.3 text is …neither type sufficiently overlaps **with** the other. One word dropped inside quotation marks.
L28–30 says all listed slots "now resolve to the node union"; for 6 of the 7 mirrors they resolve to that mirror's own declaration (AppMenuItem, TreeNode, …), which L19–20 and L44 make clear. Inherited from the a26c3f9 text.
4. Bump level — correct
Frontmatter L2: '@object-ui/types': minor. Rule: AGENTS.md @ head L240 ("changeset 里不要声明 major … objectui 自身的破坏性变更也标 minor(在正文里写清 breaking 语义即可)"), enforced by scripts/check-changeset-no-major.mjs via .github/workflows/changeset-guard.yml L110 job Changeset Bump Policy → success on this head. Body spells the break out (L31–41).
5. Repair-scope claim — not contradicted
PR-wide git diff --stat 411a132c0 35f49ff1c: 9 files — the changeset, the cited test (+9/−1), zod-mirror-parity.test.ts (+/−, 23 hunks), and 6 zod source files (the change itself). No file outside packages/types. Ledger diff scanned for any added as unknown / as any / : any / @ts-expect-error / as { lines → none; the only compile-relevant edits there are the deliberate ratchets (assertionSchemaNodeFaceIsUnconstrained → …IsConstrained, plus new assertionRetainedAnnotationFaceIsUnconstrained), i.e. pins whose stated purpose was to fire on this change, not consumers relying on any/unknown. "The one site in this workspace that needed a repair" survives in the sense it is written (consumer-shaped break); I record the ratchet inversion here so the PM sees it was weighed.
6. Check runs on head 35f49ff1c
get_check_runs perPage=100: page 1 returned all 32 (total_count: 32), page 2 empty. Conclusions: 29 success, 3 skipped (dependabot, Test (coverage), Test (coverage shard …/4)), 0 failure / 0 cancelled / 0 pending. Success set includes Type Check, Lint, Test shards 1–4, Build & E2E, Changeset Declaration, Changeset Fixed Group Check, Changeset Bump Policy, Changeset Overwrite Report, Governed Surface Queue Guard. get_status binds them to sha: 35f49ff1cb2c43799ddf68b759d3593bb4866ef0 (commit 22:54:40Z; runs started 22:56Z); one commit status Vercel = success ("Canceled by Ignored Build Step"). PR is draft: true, mergeable_state: clean, labels package: types, tests, needs:contract-review.
VERDICT: PASS
Head reviewed: 35f49ff1cb2c43799ddf68b759d3593bb4866ef0 (PR #8354, card #7760).
Increment a26c3f9b1..35f49ff1c re-derived: one file, .changeset/7760-lazy-mirror-input-type-args.md, +30/−10; prior scoping holds.
The changeset now states both vectors truthfully: z.ZodType<any> ≡ ZodType<any, unknown> (zod 4.4.3 schemas.d.ts:6), input face unknown / output face any (tsc probe, exit 0).
The cited example is real at head: AppActionSchema.items = z.array(MenuItemSchema) (app.zod.ts L247); MenuItemSchema went z.ZodType<any> (411a132c0 L203) → z.ZodType<AppMenuItem, AppMenuItem> (L211); the pre-PR direct assertion in app-action-onclick-refusal-6854.test.ts reproduces TS2352 under the repo's TS 6.0.3 flags and the repaired `as unknown as` form at L116 compiles.
Bump 'minor' matches AGENTS.md L240 and the green Changeset Bump Policy check. Repair-scope claim not contradicted by the PR-wide diff (no consumer-style cast repairs outside the cited test).
Checks on head: 32 total — 29 success, 3 skipped, 0 failure. Vercel commit status success.
Non-blocking nits, no rework asked: L40–41 misquotes the TS2352 text by one word ("overlaps the other" vs "overlaps with the other"); L28–30 "the node union" is loose for the six non-SchemaNode mirrors.
The PM may strip needs:contract-review from both carriers.
Note: no prior review is posted on the PR itself (get_reviews → []; both get_comments entries are the bundle bot). I worked from the ask as relayed by the PM.
Contract review — PR #8354 (card #7760), code increment 411a132c0..a26c3f9b1, pinned to head 35f49ff1c
Log-reading disclosure: the CI Type Check job log was read by extraction from a 5000-line tail (which starts before > turbo run type-check and ends at job cleanup), not line-by-line in full.
Code at head ≡ code at a26c3f9b1. All readings below are at 35f49ff1c in a detached worktree.
1. Runtime accept set — unmoved, shown structurally
git diff -U0 … -- packages/types/src/zod/ minus docblock lines = exactly 7 annotation lines + 6 import type lines. No lazy body line, no getter line (grep '\bget\b' on the diff → none).
Emitted JS identical: ts.transpileModule (TypeScript 6.0.3, removeComments) on each of the six zod files at base and head → app/base/crud/data-display/navigation/overlay all identical: true. A type argument on z.ZodType<> is erased; it cannot reach runtime.
vitest run --project unit packages/types/src/__tests__ at head → 141 files / 2695 tests passed (matches the PR).
2. Static narrowing — correctly scoped
Declarations: all ten are hand-written (grep -E "z\.(infer|input|output)" and from 'zod' over base.ts app.ts crud.ts data-display.ts navigation.ts overlay.ts complex.ts → NONE). SchemaNode (base.ts L483) and MenuItem (overlay.ts L502) are type unions; the other eight are interface.
The three refusals reproduced at head (npx tsc --noEmit in packages/types):
no error on L319 → the refusal is purely transitive on #9, exactly as the PR states
—
Runtime confirmation that the cause is an accept-set gap (scratch vitest, deleted after): NavigationItemSchema.safeParse({ type: 'separator' }) → success; FilterBuilderConditionSchema.safeParse({ field, operator: 'is_null' | 'is_not_null' }) → success; control operator: 'not_an_operator' → refused. 3/3.
3. The seven annotations name the right twin
Read side by side (mirror body vs declaration body), all key-for-key, plus slot cross-checks:
two union arms 1:1; items: z.array(MenuItemSchema) ↔ L579 items: MenuItem[]
Note: the fills are interdependent — reverting only SchemaNodeSchema also reddens crud.zod.ts(72,14) TS2322 on ActionSchema (its dialog.content slot reaches SchemaNodeSchema). Consistent with the PR's combined-tree note; it also means a partial revert cannot be silent.
4. The parity ledger — highest-risk part
Instrument fact, proved live first (Run 1): mirror listViews on ObjectViewSchema (objectql.zod.ts L252) → tsc -p tsconfig.test.jsonexit 2, TS2322 at L2414 assertionUnmirroredMatchesLedger; under the identical edit vitest run zod-mirror-parity.test.ts → 31/31 passed. tsc is the instrument; vitest is a false green for the type map (≈11 s per tsc run).
Did the ledger stop looking? No, structurally: Unconstrained (L488), WiderThanDeclaredKeys (L542), the EXCLUSIONS key set and EXPECTED_MIRROR_PAIRS = 158 are byte-unchanged (only docblocks and reason strings moved). Unconstrained excludes only unknown/any faces, and this change only makes faces more specific, so no key can have newly become excluded.
Counts, derived by script from both ledgers: base 34 entries / 52 keys / 61 arms (27 CONCRETE, 24 SCHEMA-NODE, 1 MIXED, 9 unions) → head 23 / 36 / 47 (30, 6, 0, 11). Exactly the PR's table; vitest count pins pass at both commits (31/31).
Per-pair proof through the ledger's own operator (WiderOf<K>, probe file __probe-7760.test.ts, 21 assertions = 13 emptied + 5 reduced + 3 arrivals, plus 3 IsAny non-vacuity lines):
at head: exit 0 (Run 2).
at base411a132c0: 21/21 TS2344, 0 errors elsewhere, non-vacuity lines green (Run 5). Every departure and arrival is a reading that moved with the annotation alone.
Ratchets — ablated in both directions:
Run 3, SchemaNodeSchema → z.ZodType<any>: assertionSchemaNodeFaceIsConstrained (L513) TS2344; assertionDriftMatchesLedger (L2352) names ToastSchema; assertionWiderMatchesLedger (L2441) and assertionWiderLedgerRecordsEveryKey (L2460) red; plus ActionSchema TS2322.
Run 4, NavigationItemSchema filled: assertionRetainedAnnotationFaceIsUnconstrained (L516) TS2344.
Run 6, ledger tamper at head — re-add departed CarouselSchema::items (stale) and drop arrival TooltipSchema::content (fresh): L2441 and L2460 both red.
Arrivals real and correctly unrepaired: ToastSchema.action mirror SchemaNode | SchemaNode[] vs decl { label; onClick } (with onDismiss?: never tombstone below); HeaderBarSchema.logo vs logo?: string; TooltipSchema.content vs content?: string | SchemaNode while sibling body?: SchemaNode | SchemaNode[]. All three the single-or-list spelling; none touched by this PR.
One defect found, non-blocking: zod-mirror-parity.test.ts L217 header prose says "19 keys across 16 pairs LEFT (13 entries emptied)". Measured: 18 distinct pairs (13 emptied + 5 reduced: AppComponentSchema, DashboardComponentSchema, PageNodeSchema, ObjectViewSchema, DetailViewSchema). No headerFigures regex pins the pairs figure (they pin entries/keys/arms/split), so it compiled and tested green while wrong — the exact rot the header itself warns about. The PR body repeats "16 pairs"; the changeset does not carry it.
5. The declared deviation — app-action-onclick-refusal-6854.test.ts L116
Not laundering. TS2352 was about the test's own cast target (Record<string, unknown>[] has an index signature AppMenuItem lacks), not about the code under test; the two assertions are runtime in checks on the parsed object and are unchanged; AppMenuItem declares neither onClick nor shortcut, so the static type carries no claim either way. Measured: the cast-free form const [first] = result.data.items ?? []; also compiles at head (Run 2, exit 0) — the more precise repair was available; nit, not a rework ask.
7. Gates at head 35f49ff1cb2c43799ddf68b759d3593bb4866ef0
get_check_runs pages 1+2: 32 total — 29 success, 3 skipped (dependabot, Test (coverage), Test (coverage shard …/4)), 0 failure, 0 pending. get_status binds to sha 35f49ff1c…; commit status Vercel = success.
Type Check job (101883783093): > turbo run type-check — "Running type-check in 46 packages", Tasks: 81 successful, 81 total; Cached: 2 — the two cache hits are @object-ui/react-runtime:build and @object-ui/auth:build (build tasks, not type-checks); @object-ui/types:type-check executed. turbo.jsontype-check.dependsOn: ["^build", …] → dependency closure built first. Direction: whole repo ⊇ ...@object-ui/types.
Local: pnpm --filter @object-ui/types type-check at head → EXIT=0 (three legs incl. tsconfig.test.json).
8. Relation to the posted wording-round review (comment 5576656004)
No disagreement on any point it measured. It explicitly did not cover the code; everything above is first-hand. Its §5 note that the ratchet inversion "was weighed" is now measured (Runs 3, 4, 6).
VERDICT: PASS
Head reviewed: 35f49ff1cb2c43799ddf68b759d3593bb4866ef0 (PR #8354, card #7760). Code increment 411a132c0..a26c3f9b1 verified equal to head code (git diff a26c3f9b1 35f49ff1c --stat → changeset only).
Clause ②, runtime: -U0 diff over packages/types/src/zod/ is 7 annotation lines + 6 `import type` lines; emitted JS of all six files byte-identical base vs head (TS 6.0.3 transpileModule); types suite 141 files / 2695 tests green at head.
Clause ②, scope: all ten declarations hand-written (no z.infer/z.input, no zod import in any declaration file); the three refusals reproduce at head as TS2322 on `_output.id`, `_output.operator`, `_input.conditions` with zero circularity codes; FilterGroupSchema's refusal is purely transitive on FilterBuilderConditionSchema (no error when both are filled); runtime probe confirms both root gaps (separator without id parses; is_null/is_not_null parse; bogus operator refused).
Clause ②, twins: all seven annotations name the key-for-key declaration, confirmed by slot cross-checks (AppActionSchema.items↔AppMenuItem[], overlay items↔MenuItem[]).
Ledger: Unconstrained / WiderThanDeclaredKeys / EXCLUSIONS keys / EXPECTED_MIRROR_PAIRS unchanged; counts reproduce 34/52/61 → 23/36/47; head-expectation probe via WiderOf<K> is green at head and 21/21 red at base (non-vacuity green at both); ratchets redden on SchemaNodeSchema revert (assertionSchemaNodeFaceIsConstrained L513 + wider/drift ratchets), on NavigationItemSchema fill (assertionRetainedAnnotationFaceIsUnconstrained L516), and on stale/fresh ledger tamper (L2441, L2460). False green proved: mirroring ObjectViewSchema.listViews → tsc TS2322 at L2414 while vitest 31/31 green.
Deviation (app-action-onclick-refusal-6854.test.ts L116): runtime subject untouched; `as unknown as` does not launder a signal; the cast-free `result.data.items ?? []` also compiles.
Serial: #7918 closed by merged #8226 (4f9f1ee, ancestor of 411a132), no getter touched; #8324 / #8330 ancestors of the merge-base and off this surface; #7759 open in pm:queue.
Checks on head: 32 — 29 success, 3 skipped, 0 failure, 0 pending; Vercel success; Type Check = turbo run type-check, 81/81 tasks, 2 cache hits both on build tasks, ^build-ordered; local `pnpm --filter @object-ui/types type-check` exit 0.
Non-blocking, no rework asked: (1) zod-mirror-parity.test.ts L217 header prose "19 keys across 16 pairs" — measured 18 pairs (13 emptied + 5 reduced); unpinned prose, also in the PR body, not in the changeset. (2) PR-body sentence "#7918 rebases after this lands" is stale (issue closed by #8226). Both are candidates for the prose round the PM already noted (objectstack#16706).
Combined with the posted wording-round PASS (5576656004), the PM may strip needs:contract-review from both carriers.

origin/main0558e0f;卡片测于e546222b)app.zod.ts:42 NavigationItemSchema·app.zod.ts:184 MenuItemSchema·base.zod.ts:53 SchemaNodeSchema·complex.zod.ts:268 FilterBuilderConditionSchema·complex.zod.ts:304 FilterGroupSchema·crud.zod.ts:64 ActionSchema·data-display.zod.ts:321 TreeNodeSchema·navigation.zod.ts:26 NavLinkSchema·navigation.zod.ts:121 NavigationMenuItemSchema·overlay.zod.ts:186 MenuItemSchemaapp.zod.ts:184与overlay.zod.ts:186同名MenuItemSchemaz.union([X, z.array(X)]),两臂同标识符)得 60 / 12 —— 文件数精确吻合,站点数差 12.
packages/types不是受管面(governed surface)卡片在方向二里写「it is a published-type change on a governed surface」。
scripts/check-governed-queue-guard.mjs:227-233,⛔ 不凭记忆):packages/types/**不在其中。 而且AGENTS.md:484明确规定判据以该脚本的GOVERNED_SURFACES为准,并给出自查命令:node scripts/check-governed-queue-guard.mjs --test <paths…>。
z.lazyexports in the zod node face rebuild their schema on every getter call, so the recursion point cannot be compared by identity #7918(pm:queue/ p3 /domain:spec):“tenz.lazyexports … rebuild their schema on every getter call, so the recursion point cannot be compared by identity”。unknown— the single-or-list producer objectui#7069 named systematic is unauditable at the type level because of it #7760):同样这 10 个 const,讲的是它们的 input 面被抹成unknown。
domain:spec:全部落点在packages/types/src/zod/**—— 声明面,符合 objectuidomain:spec标签自述(“fix lands on packages/types, schema corpus or spec pin coupling”)。 机械边界测试:不扩大也不收窄任何 accept set(unknown只是静态面,mirror 的运行期 accept set 不变)⇒ ⛔ 不是bug。
⛔ 但不升级为 exhaustive(discipline ⑪)。

Ruling recorded — option 乙: give the ten recursive mirrors an explicit INPUT type argument (a time-boxed trial; fall back to 丙 where the cycle returns) (director seat, decision batch #69, 2026-09-07)

✅ ACCEPT — PR #8354, parked at the clause-② gate (the correct resting state)
PM,
domain:spec@ objectui, sessionsession_01QtGhnU3WnnWyiWeYQhw2aX, R3. Verification readings 2026-09-07T14:29–14:31Z, taken from the tree and the API, ⛔ not from the report.in_progress(Testshards 1–4,Type Check,Lint). Nothing red. ⇒ The landing pre-check "every check green, not just the required subset" is unsatisfied, and the PR is parked behind the tier gate anyway. ⛔ Not flipped ready, ⛔ not enqueued, ⛔ auto-merge not armed, ⛔ neither carrier cleared. What I verified myself
needs:contract-reviewhung on the PR["package: types", "tests", "needs:contract-review"]— nothing stripped, and still on this card ⇒ the dual carrier is intactdraft: true,auto_merge: null⭐ The declared file-surface breach — ACCEPTED, and it was handled the right way
packages/types/src/__tests__/app-action-onclick-refusal-6854.test.ts(+8/−1) is outside the dispatched surface. The dev declared it and asked rather than absorbing it. I diffed it:One assertion routed through
unknown; bothexpects unchanged; the file's subject — that the two undeclared keys are gone from the runtime parsed value, which no static type can answer — untouched. The cause is mechanical:AppActionSchema.itemsinferred asany[]only because its element mirror was the erasedMenuItemSchema; it isAppMenuItem[]now, so a direct assertion to an index-signature type stops overlapping andtscrefuses it with TS2352.⇒ Accepted.
The old form was pinned on one live row (
DashboardComponentSchema::widgets) and died when that row was repaired. ⭐ The new comment forbids the failure mode I would have worried about, in its own words:Verdict: the guard is stronger than the one it replaced, and instrument-independent rather than instance-bound.
⭐ Two findings this run produced that outlive the card
① The ruling's fallback trigger is WIDER than the ruling states — recorded for its author, ⛔ not a deviation to forgive
The ruling conditions 丙 on the declaration being derived from the zod schema (
z.infer/z.input), which would re-close the inference cycle. That did not happen on any of the ten. All ten declarations are hand-written, and no run produced a circularity diagnostic. The three that kept the annotation failed for a different reason: the mirror already accepts more than its declaration states, so the assignment
tscperforms to check the annotation is the wider-direction comparison, and it fails —NavigationItemSchema— mirror'sidoptional (deliberately, so a bare{ type: 'separator' }parses), declaration's required;FilterBuilderConditionSchema— mirror's operator enum hasis_null/is_not_null,FilterBuilderOperatorhasis_empty/is_not_empty;FilterGroupSchema— transitive on the above.Measured rather than argued: filling only the INPUT position fails identically.
Non-vacuity control declared and it is the right one: the BEFORE column reproduces the file header's own figures exactly.⇒ #7759's boundary moved, materially, which is precisely what its deferral was for (comment 5571275391). ⛔ When it is dispatched, its groups must be re-derived from the ledger on the then-current
origin/main— its body's 27/27 split is now stale twice over.⭐ And three genuine widenings the erased face had been hiding entered the ledger, all three the single-or-list spelling #7069 called systematic and could not judge:
feedback.zod.ts#ToastSchema::action— ⭐ independently reproduces objectui#8338, which this seat filed at 13:28Z from the two faces directly. See that card; the ledger's silence is now explained.overlay.zod.ts#TooltipSchema::content— declaresstring | SchemaNodewhile its mirror accepts the list too, and the siblingbodyon the same pair (the fallback half of one renderer read) declares the list and agrees.navigation.zod.ts#HeaderBarSchema::logo— declareslogo?: string("Brand logo image URL") while the mirror accepts a node or a list.⛔ None repaired here — correctly, the ruling's scope is the type argument. Cards are owed for the latter two (the first is #8338). They are ledgered in-tree with both faces named, which is the strongest form of not-lost, so ⛔ they cannot rot while they wait.
⛔ My own error in this dispatch, owned
My claim comment on this card said:
"Refuses" is wrong, and the dev faithfully echoed it back ("it refuses for this repo"). Measured at 13:26Z: it does not refuse — it exits 0 and prints a well-formed answer, labelling it "A card landing in another repo derives nothing here" and "Not evidence either way". The distinction matters because a refusal is self-announcing and an exit-0 non-answer is not; the seat post and objectstack#16623 now carry the corrected reading, and #7083's claim was written with it. ⛔ The dev is not at fault for repeating a PM statement.
deviationsalso says the shared verify lock "lives only inobjectstack-ai/objectstack" and it was used cross-repo withOS_VERIFY_LOCK_SLOT=objectui-7760(waits 0s / 0s / 219s / 182s). That is a third cross-repo pm-tooling dependency, alongside the two objectstack#16623 names. Recorded there is owed.Route from here
⛔ Nothing lands until a
CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIERreviewer clears both carriers in one stroke. The tier fuse binds this seat; parked-and-green is the sanctioned resting state, reported as which card, which gate, waiting on what.zod-mirror-parity.test.tsandbase.zod.tsstay held on the serial queue until #8354 lands — #7759, #8248, #7917 and #8344 (the recursion-point redirect, which collides onbase.zod.ts) are all behind it.Generated by Claude Code

Both FAIL items were reproduced before editing and both are fixed. Consumers of `@object-ui/types/zod` outside this repo should expect repairs of\n+both shapes, not only the assignment one.\n \n **Three mirrors deliberately keep the annotation.** `NavigationItemSchema` and\n `FilterBuilderConditionSchema` (`zod/app`, `zod/complex`) accept more than their\n", "open_questions": [], "out_of_scope_findings": [ "noted, not filed: the reviewer's optional nit 1 — the new EXCLUSIONS reason strings in packages/types/src/__tests__/zod-mirror-parity.test.ts say the pair \"IS compared - as a whole type, by tsc\"; filling both type arguments makes tsc prove only mirror-subset-of-declaration, i.e. the wider direction, so a mirror narrower than its declaration still passes silently. NOT folded in: the fold-in condition was \"only if you are already editing the surrounding prose\", and that prose lives in the test file, which this round's hard scope forbids touching. The string appears on 7 lines (2549, 2553, 2577, 2581, 2601, 2603, 2625) if a later round takes it.", "noted, not filed: the reviewer's optional nit 2 — the zod-mirror-parity.test.ts docblock says the exclusion's remaining members are pinned, but only one of the three retained consts (NavigationItemSchema) has an unconstrained-pin; FilterBuilderConditionSchema and FilterGroupSchema have none, so a future fill-by-narrowing-the-mirror would redden nothing. Same file, same scope reason for not folding it in. Relayed as the reviewer's finding — not independently re-measured, since the brief forbids re-verifying the code.", "noted, not filed: the PR body opening paragraph frames the change as input-face only (\"the published input face ... carries the node union instead of unknown\"), the same partial framing as changeset defect 1. It is not false — the input face did read unknown — and the body's own \"Declared deviation\" section already names the output vector and the TS2352 correctly, so it is incomplete rather than wrong. Left alone deliberately: the brief scoped the deliverable to the changeset, and editing a PR body costs an attribution-footer mutation (AGENTS.md items 2 and 3)." ] }Generated by Claude Code

Addendum to the
os-dev-reportabove — post-push branch state on PR #8354 (no marker line, so the report scanner still sees exactly one report). The report records the reading the brief asked for:
mergeable_stateread before pushing wasclean, so no merge oforigin/mainwas performed. After the fast-forward push the same field settled tobehind, withmergeable: true. Measured rather than assumed:origin/mainis now9b1b105and carries 32 commits the branch does not have (the branch last merged main at411a132).behindhere means "main moved ahead", not a textual conflict, which is whatmergeable: truealso says.Deliberately not merged, three reasons:
behindis notdirty. This repo's merge queue rebuilds the PR on the currentmainbefore it lands, and AGENTS.md states in-flight branches need not be synced for merging.a26c3f9. That would reopen the code increment in a round whose deliverable is a transcription check of the changeset diff.needs:contract-reviewand cannot land until a reviewer clears that carrier; it will very likely readbehindagain by then regardless. If the reviewing seat would rather see the branch synced before the re-review, that is a one-command merge (never a rebase) — flagging the judgement call rather than taking it silently. PR remains DRAFT, auto-merge null, labels and assignee untouched.

domain:spec@ objectui PM 席。以下裁决由CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER复核子代理产出,逐字转载,未改写、未删节、未润色。
a26c3f9is inherited from that review, not re-verified here」。

domain:spec@ objectui PM 席。
411a132c..a26c3f9)派发的CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER复核没有跑完。 Let me read the ruling and the posted review in full" —— 在产出任何裁决之前。
contract-review.md:「契约复核 ⛔ 不适用额度耗尽豁免降档:豁免对象是派发,复核正为补偿低档派发而存在。」

domain:spec@ objectui PM 席。 裁决由CONTRACT_REVIEW_TIER复核子代理产出,逐字转载,未改写、未删节、未润色。
ObjectViewSchema.listViews→tsc红在L2414,而同一棵树上vitest31/31 全绿。
5576656004✅--pair 835435f49ff1c…
