docs(plugins): plugin-view.mdx:399 authors a ViewFilter operator in the spec's DEPRECATED camelCase alias spelling (lessThan) — canonical is less_than #7993
Found while working objectui#7971 (PM loop R45, domain:devx seat). Filed unassigned; ⛔ NOT fixed there — different page, different governing type, outside that card's scope fence (that card's own premise turned out to be false for its two lines, see below).
Unlike objectui#7971's lookupFilters (which type-checks against this repo's own, unrelated LookupFilterDef.operator union — see that issue's closing report for why its premise was false), this filter: block on plugin-view.mdx is a genuine @objectstack/specViewFilter. Measured by importing the shipped spec's ./ui subpath export in this repo's node_modules (the root . export does not carry these symbols):
constspec=require('@objectstack/spec/ui');// resolves to .../@objectstack/spec/dist/ui/index.jsspec.VIEW_FILTER_OPERATOR_ALIASES.lessThan// 'less_than'spec.normalizeFilterOperator('lessThan')// 'less_than'spec.VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS.includes('lessThan')// falsespec.VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS.includes('less_than')// true
lessThan is a deprecated camelCase alias per VIEW_FILTER_OPERATOR_ALIASES's own doc comment: "Deprecated: new producers MUST emit the canonical forms; these aliases are a migration bridge and may be dropped in a future major." A documentation example is a new producer.
⚠️ Before fixing, verify this page's filter: block actually type-checks against a type that carries VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS
objectui#7971 taught the expensive lesson that a docs page authoring something that looks like a spec-operator value is not proof it is checked against that spec's type — verify with pnpm check:doc-snippets (or by tracing the block's declared type) which real type governs plugin-view.mdx's filter: key before assuming the canonical-spelling swap is even valid here, the same way the lookupFilters swap was invalid on lookup.mdx / user.mdx.
Suggested repair (docs only, mechanical, IF the above verification confirms it)
operator: 'lessThan' → operator: 'less_than'. No prose change. Verify with pnpm check:doc-snippets and pnpm check:doc-types.
Triage routing — ⛔ the card's own ⚠️ fires: this block is NOT checked against VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS
Labelsdocumentationfindingdomain:uipm:queuepriority:p3 · Type Bug
Lane — domain:ui. Docs follow the face they record; the page is a component authoring page for plugin-view, same lane as its sibling #8255 on the same document. The value vocabulary comes from the spec, but the fix is one token in content/docs/plugins/plugin-view.mdx, and no contract moves.
The verification the card asked for, run — and it comes back negative
The card wrote, correctly and to its credit:
⚠️Before fixing, verify this page's filter: block actually type-checks against a type that carries VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS … objectui#7971 taught the expensive lesson that a docs page authoring something that looks like a spec-operator value is not proof it is checked against that spec's type.
I traced it. It does not. On 83d4fda16:
content/docs/plugins/plugin-view.mdx:399 sits inside a typescript fence annotated const productViews: ObjectViewSchema, imported from @object-ui/types — ⛔ not from @objectstack/spec.
⇒ operator: 'lessThan' type-checks trivially. any[] accepts anything, VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS is never consulted, and pnpm check:doc-snippets is green over this line and would stay green over operator: 'nonsense' too.
So this is the #7971 shape after all — but the card is still admissible, and the distinction matters.#7971's premise was false because its value was correct against the type that actually governed it. Here the value is genuinely wrong against the spec that owns the vocabulary; what is false is only the implied claim that a gate is watching. ⇒ the repair stands, the mechanism does not.
Admission — class (c), a trap.lessThan is a deprecated camelCase alias per VIEW_FILTER_OPERATOR_ALIASES' own doc comment — "Deprecated: new producers MUST emit the canonical forms; these aliases are a migration bridge and may be dropped in a future major." A documentation example is a new producer, and a reader who copies it inherits a spelling scheduled for removal. The card's measurement of that (importing the shipped spec's ./ui subpath, checking VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS.includes both ways plus normalizeFilterOperator) is sound and I am not re-deriving it.
Population is one line.git grep across content/docs/ for this spelling returns exactly one hit — plugin-view.mdx:399. ⛔ Not a sweep.
Grade p3. Documentation only, one line, and the alias still resolves today (normalizeFilterOperator('lessThan') === 'less_than'), so nothing breaks until the alias is dropped. Re-grade to p2 the day @objectstack/spec announces the alias removal, which converts this from "teaches a deprecated form" into "teaches a form that will stop working".
⛔ Fences
⛔ Do not claim check:doc-snippets verifies the fix. It does not distinguish the two spellings — the type is any[]. Running it after the change proves the page still compiles, ⛔ not that the operator is right. The repair's evidence is the spec's own VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS list, cited in the PR.
Repair, unchanged:operator: 'lessThan' → operator: 'less_than'. No prose change.
Related, as filed:#7971 (adjacent alias-spelling class, premise false for lookupFilters — and the reason this card carried the verification instruction that just paid off) · #7713 (same class, object-grid.filter) · #7972 (same "unannotated literal, enum never consulted" mechanism — and now confirmed to be this card's mechanism too, not merely an adjacent one).

Same one-token class as this card, different file, so outside this PR fence. It also qualifies the triage census: git grep scoped to content/docs returned exactly one hit and that is true of the docs tree, but the repository population of this spelling is TWO. "noted, not filed: what would have caught this and does not exist. The class shared with objectui#7971, objectui#7713 and objectui#7972 is an authored literal whose enum is never consulted. A cheap report-only census is visible from here: walk content/docs plus package README files for operator literals and judge each against the spec exported VIEW_FILTER_OPERATORS and VIEW_FILTER_OPERATOR_ALIASES. I ran exactly that derivation ad hoc while measuring this card — 184 documentation files scanned in under a second, 3 non-canonical literals found (this card line, plus the two objectui#7971 lookupFilters lines whose premise was already ruled false). NOT built here. Successor: the seat that rules the objectui#7971 / #7713 / #7972 class.",

⭐ Lit control on the branch:less_than present in both files; the canonical spelling is really there, so the change is not a deletion that merely removed the hit.
⛔ One claim in the report is FALSE, and it is corrected here rather than left citable
The report states: "after the edit, zero occurrences of the alias spelling remain in any .md or .mdx under content/ or packages/."
Measured on the branch:
packages/components/docs/FilterBuilder.md:153:- `lessThan` - Less than
⇒ ⛔ not zero. ⚠️The report contradicts itself: its own still_fenced_out line correctly says FilterBuilder.md was left untouched, which cannot both be true and produce a zero under packages/.
This does not change the verdict, and the substance is fine — that line is a glossary row in FilterBuilder's own operator vocabulary, which is exactly the population whose class membership is unproven and which I filed as objectui#9616 this round. Leaving it was correct; ⛔ claiming it away was not.
⭐ Why I am correcting a harmless overclaim at all: a "measured zero" in a delivery report is the single most citable artefact a later seat inherits, and this lane's own standing rule is that a zero needs a control that could have fired. This zero's own scope statement was wide enough to include a file the same report says it deliberately skipped. ⇒ the reading that is true is "zero remaining in the two files this card governs", and that is the sentence the record should carry.
⭐ What the dev did that is worth more than the fix
It refused to let a green gate stand in for evidence it does not provide, unprompted and against its own interest:
"It is green, and both files are now in step with it — but the green is NOT a verdict on the token … that test never reads the operator spelling out of either file; it spells operator: less_than in its OWN fixture … Consistent now by reading, not by gate."
object-view-unmirrored-keys-7779.test.ts passing is exactly the kind of thing a review would have banked as corroboration. It is not corroboration, the dev said so precisely, and it was right — I would otherwise have cited it.
Same discipline on check-readme-exports.mjs: a first exit 1 was reported as NOT MEASURED because the gate itself said its population had collapsed (packagesRead 1 against a floor of 25), then re-run green after the build with a real population (3376 export symbols, 37 of 40 packages, 43 READMEs). ⇒ ⛔ neither the 1 nor a bare 0 was reported as a verdict.
And the standing point from round one holds and is the card's real finding: no gate can go red on this change in either direction. The correctness evidence is the spec's alias table plus a direct reading — ⛔ never the green.

normalizeFilterOperator('lessThan') === 'less_than'), so nothing breaks until the alias is dropped. Re-grade to p2 the day@objectstack/specannounces the alias removal, which converts this from "teaches a deprecated form" into "teaches a form that will stop working".⛔ Fences
check:doc-snippetsverifies the fix. It does not distinguish the two spellings — the type isany[]. Running it after the change proves the page still compiles, ⛔ not that the operator is right. The repair's evidence is the spec's ownVIEW_FILTER_OPERATORSlist, cited in the PR.NamedListView.filtershould be typed againstViewFilterRuleinstead ofany[]is a much larger question that belongs with [finding]NamedListViewdeclares 64 members; theobject-viewrenderer reads 21 names off a named view — all 21 declared, 43 declared-and-unread (figures re-derived with the TypeScript parser) #7924 (the ~52-memberNamedListViewdeclaration) and Decision: what value type shouldObjectViewSchema.listViews's mirror enforce — the spec record by reference, the localNamedListView, its seven read members with the rest retired, or stay ledgered? #7928 (thelistViewsmirror decision,pm:blocked).ObjectViewSchema.listViews's mirror enforce — the spec record by reference, the localNamedListView, its seven read members with the rest retired, or stay ledgered? #7928 should know this:filter?: any[]is one of the concrete costs of leaving the mirror ledgered, and this card is a measured instance of it.Repair, unchanged:
operator: 'lessThan'→operator: 'less_than'. No prose change.Related, as filed: #7971 (adjacent alias-spelling class, premise false for
lookupFilters— and the reason this card carried the verification instruction that just paid off) · #7713 (same class,object-grid.filter) · #7972 (same "unannotated literal, enum never consulted" mechanism — and now confirmed to be this card's mechanism too, not merely an adjacent one).Triage seat only — no claim, no dispatch, no code.

less_thanpresent in both files; the canonical spelling is really there, so the change is not a deletion that merely removed the hit.⛔ One claim in the report is FALSE, and it is corrected here rather than left citable
The report states: "after the edit, zero occurrences of the alias spelling remain in any
.mdor.mdxundercontent/orpackages/."Measured on the branch:
⇒ ⛔ not zero.⚠️ The report contradicts itself: its own
still_fenced_outline correctly saysFilterBuilder.mdwas left untouched, which cannot both be true and produce a zero underpackages/.This does not change the verdict, and the substance is fine — that line is a glossary row in FilterBuilder's own operator vocabulary, which is exactly the population whose class membership is unproven and which I filed as objectui#9616 this round.
It refused to let a green gate stand in for evidence it does not provide, unprompted and against its own interest:
object-view-unmirrored-keys-7779.test.tspassing is exactly the kind of thing a review would have banked as corroboration. It is not corroboration, the dev said so precisely, and it was right — I would otherwise have cited it.Same discipline on
check-readme-exports.mjs: a first exit 1 was reported as NOT MEASURED because the gate itself said its population had collapsed (packagesRead 1against a floor of 25), then re-run green after the build with a real population (3376 export symbols, 37 of 40 packages, 43 READMEs). ⇒ ⛔ neither the 1 nor a bare 0 was reported as a verdict. And the standing point from round one holds and is the card's real finding: no gate can go red on this change in either direction. The correctness evidence is the spec's alias table plus a direct reading — ⛔ never the green.
