Codex app: Display a badge count in the dock for awaiting approvals #13629
Codex does a good job of showing notifications when it's done taking a turn or needs an approval. In the case of approvals, it'd be great if it was either the default, or configurable, to use badge notifications on the dock/cmd-tab app icon.
I take approvals to mean "the app needs your attention to proceed" which is certainly higher intent than the agent just finishing a turn. Given that, I'd recommend not using the badge notification for unread conversations, but instead just reserve it for pending approvals.
For macOS, it would be especially useful if Codex could request user attention through the Dock when it reaches a state that requires user interaction.
For example, when Codex is waiting for:
permission approval,
confirmation,
or any other user input required to continue,
the Dock icon could bounce until the user notices it, similar to how macOS applications normally request attention.
This is especially important during long-running Codex tasks. I often switch to another application while Codex is working, and the task can remain stalled for a long time simply because I don't know that Codex is waiting for me to click an approval button.
A Dock bounce / request-user-attention signal would solve this extremely well without requiring the user to constantly check the Codex window.

I strongly support this request.
