I tried through the CLI (version 0.114.0) and I have the same result.

Have noticed this myself today, not quite as frequent as this, but seems to be choosing odd times to compact. Cutting it real close to 0% and then resuming with <50%. No death spirals yet thankfully
Obviously out of scope and something I would prefer to not have to do, but sometimes I feel like if I were able to review what gets tossed and what is kept that I could make far better choices.
