What issue are you seeing?

Codex App suddenly became unusable during an ongoing local task.

Observed behavior:

• The agent had already started working and was around 40% through a local task.
• The UI repeatedly entered the reconnect loop: Reconnecting... 1/5 → 2/5 → 3/5 → 4/5 → 5/5, then started another reconnect cycle.
• After the reconnect attempts, it failed with stream disconnected before completion.
• The failure happened while using model 5.5 Extra High, with Full access, Work locally, and 2 background agents shown in the UI.
• The task did not recover automatically after the reconnect attempts.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

1. Open Codex App on macOS.
2. Use Codex App 26.422.30944 (2080).
3. Start an extended local agent task using 5.5 Extra High.
4. Let the task run for a few minutes with background agents enabled.
5. Observe repeated reconnect attempts and eventual stream disconnected before completion failure.

What is the expected behavior?

Codex should keep the stream alive and continue the task, or recover cleanly after a transient disconnect without making the current task unusable.

This happened suddenly during normal use. The UI screenshot shows the About Codex dialog with version 26.422.30944 (2080) and the main task view showing repeated reconnect attempts followed by the two request IDs above.
