Mobile remote connection misses Mac Codex App threads in project list #23152
Description
What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
26.513.31313 (2867)
What subscription do you have?
ChatGPT paid subscription; exact tier omitted from public issue.
What platform is your computer?
Darwin 25.2.0 arm64 arm (macOS 26.2, build 25C56)
What issue are you seeing?
Codex mobile remote connection appears to have a thread list / thread index sync issue.
My ChatGPT mobile app is connected to a Mac Codex App host and shows the same project as connected. The host status is connected. However, several recent threads that are visible in the Mac Codex App sidebar do not appear in the same project's mobile thread list. They also cannot be found with mobile search.
The missing threads include the current active thread that is visible and usable in the Mac Codex App. This does not look like a host connection failure; the mobile app can connect to the host/project, but the thread index shown on mobile is incomplete/stale.
I searched existing issues before filing. #22800 and #23062 look related, but this report is specifically about Mac-visible recent project threads missing from the mobile thread list/search while the same Mac host/project is already connected.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Feedback ID: 019e35f5-3e12-7693-8a6c-b583a29cc53c
- Open Codex App on macOS.
- Use a project that has several recent Codex threads.
- Connect the ChatGPT mobile app to the same Mac Codex App host.
- Open the same project on mobile.
- Observe that the host/project shows as connected.
- Compare the mobile thread list with the Mac Codex App sidebar.
- Several recent Mac-visible threads are missing on mobile.
- Search for the missing thread title keywords on mobile.
- The missing threads still do not appear.
Already tried:
- Pull-to-refreshing the mobile thread list
- Restarting the ChatGPT mobile app
- Checking/restarting the Mac Codex App
- Searching for missing thread title keywords on mobile
- Confirming the same account/workspace/host/project
Not tried:
- Removing and re-pairing the mobile device with the Mac host
What is the expected behavior?
The ChatGPT mobile app should show and search all recent Codex threads for the connected Mac Codex App host and project, especially the current active thread visible in the Mac Codex App.
Additional information
No screenshots or local Codex session logs are attached intentionally. The OpenAI in-app feedback report ID above should link this GitHub issue to the submitted product feedback.
Observed on May 17, 2026. The mobile app showed the Mac host/project as connected, but the thread list appeared incomplete/stale.

Have the same problem. Cannot see one project on codex mobile. No Mather what. Tried everthing. Maybe you have to provide cloud environment on github .. Will try first

Adding a current iOS reproduction with a useful timing distinction: the mobile UI briefly shows the correct current Mac state, then rolls back to an older/incomplete project and thread list.
Environment
Reproduction
Mac-side evidence
missing_candidate = 0.initial_build_complete = 0with no watermark, despite already observing the missing records. That may be relevant to the reconciliation/fallback path. This seems more specific than a static filtering problem: iOS initially receives or renders the live host inventory, then a late cached/relay/index snapshot wins and overwrites it. It is similar to the Android rollback described in #24749, suggesting the stale remote-control environment/index problem may be cross-platform.
Expected: once the current host inventory has been displayed, an older snapshot should not replace it. If catalog initialization is incomplete, Remote should retain the fresher records or surface a recoverable sync state.
Project names, thread titles/IDs, hostname, account identifiers, local paths, and transcripts are omitted for privacy. Before/after screenshots and redacted identifiers are available privately if useful.

@tibo-openai This remains reproducible on the current macOS desktop app 26.727.40816 after the mobile update and re-pair troubleshooting path.
Concrete host-side evidence, sanitized:
This is an iOS Remote project/thread discovery and presentation failure, not a pairing, account, or filesystem problem. It breaks the documented Remote promise that the phone gets the connected host project and chat state. The closely matching report #23952 is closed, but this exact behavior persists.
Please reopen or route this to the iOS Remote owner. The needed behavior is: build the project list from the saved project inventory, use saved project labels, load project-scoped paginated thread history and search, and provide a Show all projects control instead of silently truncating by recent activity.

Reproduced on August 10, 2026 with the iOS ChatGPT app using Codex Remote.

The attached screenshots show the exact state: host online, one spinner, one red error, and normal ChatGPT history populated. Please investigate the Remote thread-list/reconciliation path and pinned-session restore handling.

Receiving notification but no session list available in App Side.
Wondering if anyone from OpenAI is taking care of this issue.

Additional Linux + iOS observation on October 3, 2026.
Environment:

Comparison steps:
Expected: existing desktop-visible local threads should be discoverable in the corresponding iOS Remote project list and search, or the UI should explain any intended eligibility/filtering boundary.
The screenshots alone do not verify the selected host, account, or filter. No request/response trace, numeric list cap, recency trigger, creation-method dependency, or shared root cause has been established for this case.
This adds a Linux environment to the desktop-visible/mobile-list-and-search symptom reported here. Screenshots, private project names, actual thread titles/IDs, and local paths are omitted.
