Codex doctor report

What issue are you seeing?

Problem:
Long assistant responses can exceed the visible terminal viewport, but the TUI does not provide an obvious way to scroll back through the full response. This makes operational runbooks
and multi-step command sequences difficult to use.

Expected:
The TUI should support scrolling through prior assistant output with standard terminal-friendly controls, or document the supported keybindings clearly in the UI.

Actual:
Long responses are effectively inaccessible once they exceed the visible area.

Impact:
Users have to ask the assistant to export content into files as a workaround, especially for command runbooks and longer implementation summaries.

Suggested fix:
Add scrollback support and/or visible keybinding help for scrolling within assistant messages.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Talk with Codex for a while, till you're over one screen long, and then try to scroll up directly. It won't do that. Switching into terminal mode is impractical.

What is the expected behavior?

Ability to scroll directly, without switching to 'Terminal mode', like it works when I run Claude in Terminux inside Sublime text; it's beyond me why it works with their TUI, and not with yours...

Thank you

You can use Ctrl+T to view the whole session transcript.

You can use Ctrl+T to view the whole session transcript.

As mentioned above, that isn't as seamless UX as if it would scroll naturally.

    @ReduckProject

You can use Ctrl+T to view the whole session transcript.

Please consider adding a true scrollback-friendly or append-only mode, where assistant responses and tool output remain reviewable through normal terminal scrolling.

This is now supported in the new default fullscreen mode. See this blog post for details.
