Description

Bug description
After setting localeOverride = "zh-CN" in config.toml under [desktop], the Codex desktop UI remains in English. The setting is saved correctly but has no visible effect.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open Codex desktop app settings
  2. Change language to Chinese (zh-CN)
  3. Confirm the setting is saved in ~/.codex/config.toml (localeOverride = "zh-CN")
  4. Restart the app
  5. UI is still in English

Expected behavior
UI should display in Chinese after selecting zh-CN.

Environment

  • OS: Windows
  • Codex version: 0.136.0-alpha.2
  • Config path: C:\Users\<user>\.codex\config.toml
  • Setting: [desktop] localeOverride = "zh-CN"
