Windows codex desktop renderer process CPU hogging #28440

Description

@dmitryostrov

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.609.4994.0

What subscription do you have?

Pro

What platform is your computer?

Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.19045.0 x64

What issue are you seeing?

Whenever session starts, "codex.exe --type=renderer ..." process keeps hogging CPU, as a result the UI becomes barely usable and unresponsive. Deleting .codex-global-state.json, all sessions and constantly growing logs_2.* is not helping.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Just start a session

What is the expected behavior?

responsive UI

Additional information

Subjectively it started when this annoying "Invite a friend" item appeared on the Settings menu, because first the normal old menu appears first, then a second or two later appears this "Invite a friend" nonsense...
