Paid x5 plan loses ~20% of 5-hour limit while idle #31796
On the paid $100/monthx5 Codex plan, my 5-hour limit is still draining even without activity.
Observed behavior:
Over a 5-hour period with no meaningful Codex activity, the limit still dropped by about 20%.
This is not tied to actual prompt volume or visible work.
It matches the broader pattern where limits/credits drain much faster than actual usage should allow.
Expected behavior:
If there is no active Codex work, the 5-hour usage window should not keep burning significant quota.
A paid x5 plan should not lose around 20% of the window while idle.
Environment:
Codex CLI version: codex-cli 0.142.5
App: Codex Desktop
OS: macOS 15.7.4 (24G517)
Current region / connection: Poland, P4 Sp. z o.o. (AS9141)
Date observed: July 9, 2026 CEST
Plan: paid $100/monthx5
Please investigate idle/background quota drain specifically. This looks like another symptom of the same billing-impacting accounting/rate-limit regression.
