Chat history does not sync in new macOS ChatGPT app #32565

Open

Description

@peter-roden

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

26.707.51957

What subscription do you have?

ChatGPT Plus

What platform is your computer?

macOS 26.5.2 (arm64)

What issue are you seeing?

My existing ChatGPT conversation history does not appear in the Chat section of the new macOS ChatGPT app.

All of my conversations are visible at chatgpt.com when signed into the same account and Personal workspace. However, the desktop app shows no previous Chat conversations.

I have confirmed that the account and workspace match. I have also signed out and back in, quit and reopened the app, restarted the Mac, and switched between Codex and Chat. The conversations still do not appear.

What steps can reproduce the bug?

Feedback ID: 019f561b-eb30-7240-99b7-8c48c1c01f40

What is the expected behavior?

The Chat section of the macOS app should sync with my ChatGPT account and display the same conversation history that is visible at chatgpt.com.

Additional information

The problem began immediately after installing the new combined ChatGPT/Codex desktop app.

Installed application: /Applications/ChatGPT.app
Application version: 26.707.51957
Bundle identifier: com.openai.codex
Operating system: macOS 26.5.2
Architecture: arm64

My conversations remain accessible in the browser, so this appears to be a desktop-app history synchronization or indexing issue.

    @vrxj81

    I can confirm this issue.
    Already logged out, cleared cache, uninstalled and reinstalled the app .

    Same here... kinda amazing feature to mess up at these new times of code is already solved...

    btw I actually see one past project (that was renamed or deleted since then) and in it 1 conversation so I guess I shouldn't complain a lot.

    For me projects on Windows are not synchronized. I have some project for some week. But I don't see them in the web and not in another Windows installation.

    Want to confirm I'm having this issue as well. macOS client is on one of my machines is not syncing anymore, whereas two other Mac's still are. They are running the same version of macOS and ChatGPT client (not Classic). Even pinned chats / projects do not sync, but the app is otherwise still fully functional on the machine that doesn't sync.
